On Monday, June 8, 2026, detectives assigned to the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) conducted an investigation in the 3600 block of Newgate Lane. Detectives had received information that a juvenile male was possibly in possession of multiple firearms and was believed to have been involved with a recent shots fired incident. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence, but before the warrant could be served, the juvenile left the residence with a handgun tucked in his front waistband. He was accompanied by another juvenile.
Detectives attempted to stop the teens near E 38th Street and N Mitthoefer Avenue, but both refused officersโ commands and fled on foot. They were quickly apprehended after a short foot chase. The original juvenile suspect was armed with a loaded handgun when he was taken into custody. The gun was later confirmed to be stolen.
Detectives then executed the search warrant back at the house, and located two additional handguns, a small amount of narcotics, handgun magazines, and ammunition.
The juvenile suspect was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement Causing Injury and Dangerous Possession of a Firearm. The accompanying juvenile was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement.
The Marion County Prosecutorโs Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decisions. As with any person arrested, both suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

On June 9, 2026, IMPD Violent Crime Unit (VCU) detectives located and arrested 27-year-old Devontae WebbโHolloway after spotting him leaving a home in the 4500 block of Crittenden Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.
This arrest follows an extensive investigation that began in November 2025. On November 24, 2025, just before midnight, IMPD Southeast District officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Turtle Creek N Drive on a report of a person shot. When officers arrived, they located a victim, later identified as 26-year-old Amanda Jones, inside a residence. IEMS arrived and Jones was unfortunately pronounced deceased on scene.
IMPD homicide detectives spoke to several community members and identified Webb-Holloway as a suspect in this case. Through various investigative techniques, detectives learned WebbโHolloway had fled to Chicago to avoid apprehension. VCU detectives continued to search for him, and crucial new witness statements led to this successful arrest.
An arrest is merely an accusation, and Webb-Holloway is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The Marion County Prosecutorโs Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decisions.

Despite officers' attempts to de-escalate the situation and bring the individual to safety, he went over the edge of the parking garage and sustained injuries consistent with a fall. Medics were already staged nearby and unfortunately pronounced him deceased on-scene.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the male's loved ones during this difficult time.
The scene will be active for the next few hours as investigators process the scene.
IMPD is asking the public to avoid the area of E. Market Street and N. Pennsylvania Street due to an ongoing welfare investigation involving an individual on the ledge of a parking garage.

With school out, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is continuing its โ๐บ๐๐๐ ๐จ๐๐๐๐, ๐บ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐โ campaign, an initiative designed to keep parents and guardians informed, connected, and proactive while their kids enjoy the summer break.
IMPD Officer Thompson brings you this weekโs tip: Have open conversations โ create a safe space for your kids to talk about their concerns, challenges, and experiences.
Listen more than you talk. Let them share without jumping in to fix things right away.
Put away distractions and give them your full attention. Keep it judgment-free, avoid overreacting or criticizing, and let them know itโs okay to feel how they feel.
Sometimes, just knowing someoneโs there to listen can make all the difference.
Stay tuned for more summer safety tips from IMPD!๐

IMPD homicide detectives arrested 21-year-old Nhi Kha Nguyen on June 4th for her alleged role in a May 24th shooting that left one person dead and two others injured.
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, just after 3:00 a.m., IMPD officers were in the 100 block of S. Meridian Street when they heard gunshots coming from across the street. Officers quickly located three adults with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, later identified as 32-year-old Gregory Anderson, died at the hospital.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to start investigating. Detectives canvassed the area for available video footage and other evidence, spoke to several cooperative community members, and quickly identified Nguyen as a suspect in this case.
The IMPD Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) located Nguyen on June 4, 2026 in the 5600 Block of Crawfordsville Road and took her into custody without incident. She was arrested on the preliminary charge of murder.
The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will make the final charging decision. An arrest and a charge are merely accusations, and Nguyen should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
