The Oilers have their man. But what kind of a man do they have? That's the big question that needs to be answered with Mike Babcock expected to be the team's next coach. (@SportsnetSpec)

The Brendan Gallagher train is gaining steam, but it’s difficult to know who is driving the locomotive and where the train will go.
As agent Gerry Johansson noted, the Canucks have a lot on their plate. They have priorities other than Gallagher. https://t.co/BA9JephjLk
Heartbroken to hear of the passing of Cliff Fletcher.
No one in the game was more giving and kind to a young producer than Cliff. We all moved to Calgary in 1980 to put the Flames on the ice, and on the air. He believed in me, trusted me and confided in me.
As a hockey executive, Cliff Fletcher was iconic. An influencer. His work with the Flames and the Maple Leafs made lasting impressions on both franchises.
As a person, he was even better. Kind and Giving.
He was generous with his time, and words of wisdom.
His door was always open.
To Linda, Chuck, Kristy…Just know how much he meant to so many.
They don’t make them like George Clifford Fletcher anymore.
Caleb Malhotra on his dad potentially coaching him:
"We're both pretty professional so I think it would be cool. Very special. We'd be able to handle that."
@KellyHockeyHall@ThePHWA@CCpxpSN Gunnar and Chris both exceptional professionals, outstanding in their fields. And all-around good guys. Fully deserved honour for each.
Rod Brind'Amour is trying to get ahead of a concerning storyline that got masked earlier, but is now bubbling to the forefront.
@lukefoxjukebox dives into the coach's frank message to the Hurricanes' slumping top line. https://t.co/ujBgCJhHH9
@davehall1289@VCanucksNews Congratulations, Dave. That’s great. But you absolutely can not give up your prospect coverage; how would we know what’s going on?
It wasn’t the championship season in the minors that convinced Johnson he had the right coach for the Canucks, but the injury-ravaged, rubble-strewn losing campaign that just finished.
Malhotra was the same in both. (@imacSportsnet) https://t.co/JooORdo6NQ
“One of the first things he told me was, ‘the sky’s the limit for you.’” - Rasmus Andersson, who will open tonight’s Stanley Cup final with a heavy heart, following the loss of his agent and friend, Claude Lemieux.
The rebuild of the Vancouver Canucks is on. But if it hadn't been, you probably wouldn't have seen the Sedins get involved. @imacSportsnet has more. https://t.co/lalCUukCFJ
It’s tough to look at the way the Golden Knights have operated and not see it as the beginning of hockey’s next phase. Expect others to try to follow their lead. (@jtbourne)

Ryan Johnson on his search 2 yrs ago for an AHL coach: “There was a bunch of names on one list and then there was one name on my main list, and that was Manny.”
So far, Manny Malhotra is again the only name on GM Johnson’s list to coach NHL Canucks. https://t.co/QqX7pBxk3E
Growing up, Brett Kulak had a farm kid’s pragmatism about becoming a D-man. But he still dreamed big.
“You dream of being kind of the hero in the big moments.”
His once-in-a-career OT goal pushed the Colorado Avalanche halfway to the Stanley Cup. https://t.co/pGvblEBtRG
Great players make great plays at great moments. #NathanMacKinnon. Avalanche were screaming for too-many-men penalty at the buzzer because Wild had seven on the ice with a couple of ticks to go. Glad that call wasn't made. This game deserves a better ending.
The evolution of Necas as a playoff player could be seen in the Avalanche’s emphatic 5-2 win Monday against the Wild.
As @imacSportsnet writes, at mid-career, Necas has been a development story for the Avalanche. https://t.co/ycU9PJRirJ
We will see where this goes over the next day or so, but hearing momentum is moving in Ryan Johnson’s direction for Vancouver’s head of hockey operations.
Nothing is done until it’s done, but that’s the latest
