While the Assam Chief Minister says there is no need for crowdfunding and that the government is capable of providing relief, there have been several instances of flood-affected people being threatened and abused just to receive basic relief and assistance.

No one should have to beg, plead, or compromise their dignity to receive basic food and assistance.

We hope strong action will be taken against the officials who threatened and abused flood-affected people.

The violent incident that occurred over a land dispute at Mingmang Badati area along the Assam – Arunachal Pradesh border, in which 11 Assamese youths were injured, is extremely unfortunate and condemnable. We strongly condemn this incident in the strongest possible terms.

Despite both states having “double-engine” governments, the longstanding border dispute should have been resolved through mutual understanding and due legal processes. However, the failure of the governments to give due attention to the issue has led to a situation where such violence has occurred. This incident is deeply disturbing and does not bode well for society in the 21st century.

We urge the administrations of both states to immediately conduct a proper investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. We also appeal to both governments to resolve the longstanding border dispute through dialogue and mutual understanding.

For over 20 days, a family in #Nazira was left completely #homeless after the devastating floods swept away their entire house. Today, #hope is finally being restored.

Visiting the #flood affected Sivasagar district for the second time, the Chief Organizer of #Congress Seva Dal, Shri Srinivas B.V. stepped in to help. Under his leadership, a dedicated team of Seva Dal workers worked tirelessly to handover this new home to this family.

It is incredibly moving to see these workers dedicating their sweat and time in the pitch dark just to ensure this #family gets a roof over their heads as soon as possible.

A massive salute and heartfelt gratitude to Shri Srinivas B.V. ji and the entire Congress Seva Dal team for proving once again that true leadership is about serving those in need. #Humanity always comes first.
