Introducing Ideogram 4.0: the best open image model in the world.
Think it. Make it. Own it.
Download the weights, fine-tune on your own data, and run it on your hardware. Live on every Ideogram plan and the API today.
🚨 Ideogram just raised the bar for image generation.
I was fortunate to get 4.0 early access and spent time stress-testing it with everything from dense typography and posters to complex illustrative scenes.

Ideogram released Ideogram 4.0, a new open-weight image model focused on high-end design, typography, layout control, and photorealism.
The model is now live across Ideogram plans and the API, with weights available for download so users can fine-tune it on their own data and run it on their own hardware.
I had early access to the model and have been playing with it for a while now. I genuinely love the prompt adherence and visual aesthetics. This is a glimpse of the cinematic vibe I’ve been experimenting with.
Ideogram 4.0 is now an open model 🤯
You can download, fine-tune, and run on your own hardware, giving creators real control across photography, art, cartoons, text-based designs, and almost every visual style
1 launch worth bookmarking if you BUILD apps
→ open-weight image model. download it, fine-tune it, run it on your own hardware. on the api too.
can't wait to use it for Kairo's new badges & mascot.
powerful when it's CORE to your product btw

Got early access to Ideogram 4.0.
It's very impressive and stands it's own in certain areas compared to other top closed models.
Here is a generation with prompt : "[NAME]" spelled out through the art of minimalist rope design. Each letter is shaped by the continuous twists and bends of a single red rope, placed against a clean white background. The rope curves naturally, with realistic tension and shadows, giving the impression of soft fiber under gentle strain. Negative space within the loops defines the letterforms clearly, while the rope’s overlapping layers suggest depth and intricacy. The composition conveys connection, resilience, and elegance, balancing simplicity with detail. The final aesthetic feels refined, meaningful, and inventive, presenting "[NAME]" as if written by the rope itself.
I was so excited to see @ideogram_ai drop v4 that I quickly had to record a video to show you how it compares with gpt-image-2
I loaded my ad creative skill to generate static ads using gpt-image-2 vs ideogram-v4
ideogram has always been the leader when it comes to text-to-image generation where you can create very accurate and concise images that include text
excited to take this to the next level for my static creatives
check it out let me know what you think
Ideogram 4.0 is here, and it looks like a serious leap for open image generation.
Open weights. Self-hosting. Fine-tuning. API access. Plus native 2K, transparent backgrounds, stronger text rendering, and precise layout control.
For designers, builders, and AI creators, this is a big one.
I had the chance to test it early access here some of my tests some more in comments.
@ideogram_ai
very good and it actually lets you use 4K resolution for free unlike any other model that supports 4K which usually have a free version in like 720p
Its also very cool to see the segments it makes in real time and they each all of their own prompts?
(yes i have more prompts than this autumn one but its just my favorite to easily show differences between models)
Ideogram 4.0 has arrived.
The latest text-to-image AI image model comes with higher quality, text generation and is also open weights.
Here's everything you need to know.
Man. Ideogram just dropped the best open-weight image model in the world. 🤯
Ideogram 4.0 is now #1 on Design Arena's leaderboard. The only models ahead of it are closed ones from OpenAI and Google.
And Ideogram just opened theirs up. Download the weights. Fine-tune on your own data. Run it on your own hardware.
Here's what it actually does well:
Text inside images finally accurate. Logos, posters, signs, multi-font layouts. The one thing every other image model gets wrong, Ideogram nails.
Native 2K resolution. Transparent backgrounds built in. And you can control exactly where every object, text, and layout element goes.
Already live on Hugging Face, ComfyUI, Leonardo, Picsart, Krea, Cloudflare, and 12+ platforms.
Editable text, movable layers, and full image editing coming soon.
Every other AI image tool keeps their best model locked behind closed
doors. Ideogram just opened theirs up.
Ideogram released Ideogram 4.0 today, a 9.3B parameter open-weight text-to-image model trained from scratch, design-focused and under a non-commercial license
- Ideogram 4.0 uses the Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct vision-language model as its text encoder, and is trained only on structured JSON captions, the same format meant to be used at inference, with support for hex color palette conditioning (up to 16 per image and 5 per element), bounding-box layout in normalized coordinates, and typed text elements for multi-line and multi-font in-image text, plus a magic prompt option to turn plain text into JSON
- Available in two quantized builds, fp8 and nf4, both gated and under the same non-commercial license, with the nf4 one fitting on a single 24 GB GPU, covering any resolution from 256 to 2048 pixels per side and aspect ratios up to 6:1
- On Ideogram's own benchmarks it has the best in-image text rendering of any open-weight release, ahead of bigger models like Qwen-Image (20B), FLUX.2 dev (32B) and HunyuanImage 3.0 (80B MoE), and in a blind designer preference vote it lands second overall behind closed models like GPT Image 2, and first among open-weight models
I have been testing it a bit over the weekend, and these are a few of my own results, but since it is already supported in ComfyUI as of today, you can also try it locally or using the Ideogram web app
The weights for Ideogram 4 just dropped on GitHub for a 9.3B model that you can run completely local. No more paying high monthly fees for some typography and brand design 👀
Ideogram 4 not only revamped their model to the best they built yet, but also they flipped from closed to open weights!
With a 9B parameter model, I can't wait to see what the community will do with it
