Do you not know how to speak? If you don't, that is a different thing.
If you just type "Igbo language tutor" on Google, you will find several good options.

What you are doing seems more like straight-up neglect than prioritization. Many 90s parents did same.

I have spent more than 6000hours coaching more than 400 diaspora Igbo people. Most of them, adults, blame their parents for not teaching them. A lot of them speaking about it with resentment. They spend thousands of dollars learning a language they would have learned free of charge and more easily.

Teach you kids Igbo. It is your responsibility. It is easier for them to learn now. Speak to them at home. A lot of parents have their kids enrolled for lessons. You don't exactly need a tutor unless you feel so.

Your child's biggest breakthrough might come from his/her ability to speak Igbo. You never know. The world is becoming a global village and Igbo language still has a lot to develop for itself. Remember that football and Music did not have the kind of adoration they have today from Nigerian parents. You just never know.

When we become adults, we tend to want to have a sense of belonging to people more similar to us. Expose you kids to as many languages as possible. The decision is not yours on whether Igbo is useful to them or not. They will not be able to relate with your Nigeria story as they did not experience anything close to that. Even as people are running from Nigeria today, a lot of them raised abroad are trying, today, to reconnect and we would be naive to think it is a mere trend. From my experience, it is a deep desire whose opportunity to achieve, they have found.

When they become adults and start seeking to belong, they will definitely not agree with this your opinion. I am speaking from 10 years experience here. None of my clients have been in agreement with their parents on it.

The only place everyone will agree that you are a stakeholder is in your home. Give them the opportunity to connect.

As Africans, we need to stop positioning ourselves in this, usual, everlasting consumer position, in the world, if we actually want to be respected.

The opportunity is there, nwáńnē!

People should learn a trade. If tutorials and courses are only available in English, French, Spanish or Chinese, etc. Learn those languages too so that you can learn that trade. But make sure you don't neglect Igbo. THEN, translate the information you learned in the other langauge to Igbo. Always give back to your roots!

We have many people like Peter Okoye discouraging people from speaking Igbo Language. If Igbo Language didn't help you, PSquare should have used French to sing Onyinye, Ifunanya, Ifeoma etc. At a time Igbos are beginning to realise the importance of speaking our language, we have the likes of Peter discouraging our people.
