To say this is shocking news is an understatement.

Danny V was a big reason why I took over as Herald HS editor in late summer 2000. His work ethic, institutional knowledge, and passion for HS sports in Massachusetts will never be matched.

Tremendous loss for all who knew him.

With an extremely heavy heart, I pass along that Donato "Danny V" Ventura passed away last night after a 7 month battle with cancer. He was a great journalist (best in Boston School Sports history), a fantastic guy, the best husband and a great friend to so many of us. So sad🙏
