Protests i covered on ground:
- anna 2011
- Nirbhaya 2012
There was hearsay that Nirbhaya already passed away in Delhi. Air ambulance was arranged to show ‘effort’ and fly her to singapore.
I was also on ground in events leading to AK’s first CM oath
All of this led to LS elections 2014. I covered UP working as an intern with a recognised newspaper. I begged my way to spend a month on ground
Police action on ground against protestors was 10x than what we are registering today.
Only difference, everyone with a phone camera is journalist today. We have records of it!
Trust me: what i saw as a teenager is registered in memory even today. Indian state has (rightful) might.
‘Fun’ outings in name of protests will turn a nightmare the day police starts knocking on the doors. (And it has legal mandate to do so!)
