The Indiana Chamber has joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and many other stakeholders in advocating for the SECURE Data Act, signing on to a letter recently sent to members of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce. The letter reads:

"The undersigned state and local chambers of commerce write to express support for H.R. 8413, the 'SECURE Data Act,' and urge the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to advance this legislation.

The SECURE Data Act would establish a single national privacy standard with robust consumer protections that builds upon a strong framework already adopted in 20 states. Those protections include data minimization and sensitive data requirements, as well as access deletion, correction and opt-out rights. Importantly, this legislation will also help small businesses who are disproportionately impacted by the regulatory confusion caused by a patchwork of state privacy laws.

For these reasons, the undersigned organizations support enactment of a single national privacy standard that protects consumers and provides a workable compliance framework for businesses of all sizes. We respectfully urge you to advance the SECURE Data Act."

➡️ Senate Enrolled Act 76, which takes effect July 1, authorizes Indiana’s Office of the Attorney General to investigate employers suspected of knowingly or intentionally employing unauthorized workers and, where appropriate, pursue civil enforcement actions through the courts. Inside INdiana Business reports: "Switzerland-based measurement and automation technology company Endress+Hauser on Tuesday marked the opening of its expanded U.S. headquarters in Greenwood.

The nearly $51 million, 108,000-square-foot facility includes commercial office and light industrial space, as well as the company’s new Design and Innovation Studio, and the headquarters for its sales and service partner, George E. Booth Co."

Thanks to all who supported and attended the 2026 Civics Bee at the Indiana War Memorial Tuesday!

The event tested the civics knowledge of Hoosier school students in grades six to eight by participating in live quiz rounds and gave presentations on issues facing their communities in front of a panel of judges.

The Indiana finals, presented by Cummins Inc., is part of the National Civics Bee® organized in partnership with The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
