Today is Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. The celebration is on across the country. However, around 5,000 residents of Jyotinagar colony in Kolkata have been spending days without drinking water. Why? Only because of BJP's divisive politics — it has been nearly two months since their pipeline water supply connection was disconnected, after BJP came to power. Why? Because those people are from a minority community. The PM always uses the slogan "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas." Is depriving people of fresh drinking water an example of that? Why is the Bengal government not taking action on this? A party may run on its supporters, but the government is for all. Will those people have no right to drinking water in the state ? Do not forget government runs on money earned from taxes from its citizens across the religions. Those people of Jyotinagar Colony are also the taxpayers. How can a democratic government deprive them from drinking water deliberately? I draw the attention of the Chief Secretary of West Bengal, as head of the administration, to look into this unfortunate treatment of a handful of people. Time will record everything. If this practice continues, it can't send a good message about Bengal to other states or the outside the country.
