The State Department for Industry today took part in a high level climate sustainability workshop on Kenya's Green Transformation, focusing on the construction sector, hosted by the Kenya Green Building Society, during their annual conference.
"This summit will be a whole Government approach where we will be communicating to Kenyans what we have been doing in addition to serving as a springboard to Kenya's Vision 2060 and the NIP Policy currently under review." added Prof. Gatebe.
The IS further added that Industry movers and shakers who have greatly contributed towards it's growth will also be awarded in recognition of their efforts towards nation building through industry.
Also present was KAM who noted that more exhibitors will be expected in the event, to showcase their products and services,adding that this was an indication of the potential for growth of industry in Kenya.
State Departments for Industry, Industrialisation Secretary, Prof. Erastus Gatebe, today chaired a meeting of the ministerial committee on the Kenya Industrialisation Summit, to be held from the 2nd to 6th of November.
The Summit, said Prof. Gatebe, will be an inter-ministerial event where ministries involved will be showcasing their contribution towards the growth of industry.
These ministries, he noted, including Agriculture, Education, MSMES, Environment and Energy amongst others,will be involved in the summit, being key enablers in the growth of industry.
Technology transfer, sustainability and circularity in the textile and apparel industry, noted Prof. Gatebe, will greatly improve on the quality of the sectors products,which he added, would create a larger market for Kenyan products locally and overseas, further promoting the Buy Kenya,Build Kenya initiative.
Prof. Gatebe, while representing Industry PS Dr. Juma Mukhwana, further remarked that the Government was fully committed towards the growth of the sector saying it had embarked on cotton seeds distribution around the country, to support farmers in growing quality cotton for production.
The German business representatives on their part recognised the potential the Kenyan market presents for growth in the apparels sector. The team appreciated that the symposium would serve as an opportunity to further identify practical areas for collaboration, adding that this would also lead to future projects and investments in the sector.
Industrialisation Secretary, Prof. Erastus Gatebe today officiated a B2B symposium between German Textile Machinery Business Delegation and Kenyan Textile manufacturers.
The two-day symposium is meant to address matters modernisation of the Textile and Apparels sector and providing ideas for using B2B relations to create greater market access for Kenyan products in addition to fostering Africa's industrialisation.

Industry PS Dr. Juma Mukhwana this morning flagged off the Partnering in Business with Germany Programme, with the first 21 Kenyan enterprises participating.
The enterprises span across agribusiness, fresh produce, tea, coffee, leather, manufacturing, natural cosmetics and value added food products.
The Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the European Union guarantees duty- free, quota-free, access to the EU market for all Kenyan exports.
The PG Programme is expected to firm up sustainable relationships between exporter and buyers. This will foster market access, technology transfer, business cooperation and longterm commercial partnerships.
