A reasonable solution is sitting right there. Zoom in on the map!
It’s just like the Palisades and Eaton fires. They destroyed over 16,000 homes while over 4200 swimming pools sat in the paths of destruction unused. It would take ~ 4 days for city water networks to deliver this much water to hydrants yet it was already right where it was needed.
I’m not saying this is a total solution but it surely could save a lot of homes when the next big fire hits SoCal.

Here’s the top lesson… ~ 100 million gallons of water (4000+ pools) sat right where it was needed but was left unused while over 16,000 structures were destroyed. That’s totally unacceptable! With relatively low cost portable yet high powered pumps & monitors, firefighters could’ve made it rain to save so many homes.
@RealJamesWoods Truly Insane…. We keep doing the same and expecting a different result… 🤯 Entire neighborhoods burn to the ground while the largest resource sits unused every time. 💦💦💦💦 💦

Good to know and agreed it is an absurd bill.
I imagine it would prevent homeowners with the means to pay for private firefighters from tapping into hydrants as well but maybe not. 🤷♂️ Either way there was a massive amount of water left unused along the fires path of destruction which should be considered unacceptable.
Incompetence? Possibly… of the 20 most destructive wildfires in California history, 15 of them have happened in the last 10 years. Were they all his fault? 🤷♂️
Maybe it’s time for new leadership but more importantly it’s definitely time for new ideas to protect homes from wildfires.
Serious question, why do we keep doing more of the same and expect a different result? Pure insanity… $30 billion? Common people isn’t it time to start considering new ideas? 🤷♂️
Of the 20 most destructive wildfires in California history, 15 of them have happened in the last 10 years. 🤯 Clearly neighborhood hydrant networks, firetrucks, and air assets are not the answer to protect entire neighborhoods from these huge wind driven firestorms. It’s going to happen again and again in the future. Meanwhile the greatest resource available to protect homes never gets used. We’re talking about 10 20 even 50 times more water 💦 than hydrant networks could deliver in short order.
The #palisadesfire and #eatonfire combined to have over 4000 swimming pools in their paths of destruction. So approximately 100 million gallons of water sat right where it was needed but was left unused while over 16,000 structures were destroyed. That’s totally unacceptable! With some relatively low cost portable yet very high powered pumps & monitors, firefighters could’ve made it rain!

This would be a pretty expensive production but could contribute greatly to the better of society.
It would be a mock wildfire fighting contest to see which team saves more homes. It could be Hollywood type set that models one of the neighborhoods destroyed by the Palisades or Eaton fires. So 2 identical set-ups for 2 teams to compete. Team 1 would use the best equipment currently available. It could comprise of say 4-8 firefighters using 1-2 firetrucks connected to hydrants. Team 2 would be the perceived underdog with only 2-4 firefighters. They would use 4-8 pool throwing units (lower cost than the firetrucks). These are essentially portable high powered water guns that can be remotely started and operated. See the following video for something similar only they would be made to reach backyard pools along small paths and through standard gates:

There were over 4000 pools (100+ million gallons) in the path of destruction for the Palisades and Eaton fires. All that water just sat unused while over 16,000 structures were destroyed. That’s unacceptable! These simple low cost PTU’s could’ve saved so many homes.
Swimming pools are a huge resource and should not sit full while entire neighborhoods burn to the ground. This contest would bring big attention to this fact. A production of this scope would be expensive but has the potential to start a multi-billion dollar fire protection company… not to mention it would be fun. Who wouldn’t want to play with massive water guns.
Same for me :( and I fear the next huge wildfire near my home is just a matter of when not if… granted my home should be safe because the majority of homes on my street have a large swimming pools. @Cal_Fire just needs the proper tools to put this massive resource to work. Over 4000 pools just sat full during #palisadesfire and #eatonfire … 🤯 Air assets and hydrant networks are clearly not the answer to protect homes from these huge out of control fires. It’s time to consider new ideas…
Fully agree… There is also enough water here to fully protect the home and close neighbors. Imagine having 20 Firehawk helicopters hovering around the house with the ability to drop 1000 gallons of water each as fast or slow as firefighters choose? That’s the potential of that pool when combined with a PTU that can throw water the length of a ~ football field… Homes should not burn while pools sit full yet over 4000 of them just sat in the path of destruction during the #palisadesfire and #eatonfire .
@CAL_FIRE The good news for many older homes not built to these standards, the resource to protect them is already in place… and of course any home hardening is also helpful.

The #palisadesfire now ranks as the 3rd most destructive #wildfire in California history. It destroyed nearly 7000 structures and tragically resulted in 12 fatalities. Why do we keep doing the same and expecting a different result? Of the 20 most destructive wildfires in California history, 15 of them have happened in the last 10 years. More air assets and fire trucks are clearly not the answer for these huge wind driven firestorms.
It’s time to think outside the box. The water to protect #pacificpalisades and #malibu was sitting right where it was needed but left unused. ~ 70 million gallons in pool water (blue & green markers) sat all along the fires path of destruction. No fleet of aircraft or hydrant network could come close to delivering this amount of water in short order. With the proper planning and portable high powered equipment, firefighters could’ve made it rain all over to save so many homes.
We can do a lot better to save homes from wildfire starting in 2025.

Just a thought @elonmusk & @realdonaldtrump, after DOGE maybe consider the Department Of Government Solutions - DOGS
We can do a lot better to solve problems like Wildfires, Traffic, Homelessness, Water Storage, Pollution, etc. It’s not hard to solve problems when people truly care.
So now it’s everyone in California’s problem? HEY EVERYONE, maybe we should stop doing the same and expecting a different result. More fire trucks and air assets are clearly NOT the answer.
The water to save so many homes is already in place. Did you know the #palisadesfire & #eatonfire combined to have ~ 100 million gallons of pool water (blue markers) sitting right where it was needed to save so many home? All that water could’ve been delivered in a matter of hours with relatively low cost equipment. No fleet of aircraft or hydrant network could come close to delivering this much water in short order. Firefighters could’ve literally made it rain!
So far the reluctance to try something new is mind boggling. It’s time to start thinking outside the box. I need everyone’s help. Please follow and share this with others.
