Esto es en Venezuela. El anciano fue profesor de la UCV. Su jubilación solo son $3 al mes. Una de sus ex alumnas lo vio en la calle vendiendo mercancía y se puso en contacto con sus compañeros para darle una sorpresa.
El vídeo del profesor jubilado es muy conmovedor.

As an artist and Venezuelan myself, I am so conflicted about working in an industry that operates along such dual moral lines. This is my country, my people, my friends and my family that have been suffering for 25 years. It was always outrageous but knowing what the entire world now knows, it’s absolutely unjustifiable to maintain the status quo.

A few weeks ago, in anticipation of Maduro's electoral theft, I wrote a post exhorting the most reputed classical music agency in the world, Askonas Holt, to ditch the Venezuelan regime as a client, once and for all.

Shortly afterwards, the inevitable came to pass.

Maduro lost the election but violently claimed victory, which he is now attempting to ratify through a Supreme Court which he owns. And five days after the stolen elections, Venezuela's regime-owned and funded children's orchestra - represented by Askonas Holt in London - played in LA, Carnegie Hall, Ravinia and Tanglewood under long-time Chavista loyalist, Gustavo Dudamel.

The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) rightly picketed the Carnegie Hall performance, in an attempt to educate the audience as to the relationship of direct ownership between the regime and El Sistema's youth orchestras, run and funded by the Office of the President and widely accepted as cultural instruments of soft power and influence outside the beleaguered country.

In the authoritative words of @Geoffjbaker - the Oxford-educated musicologist and author of El Sistema: Orchestrating Venezuela's Youth - "Last week, the Venezuelan government sent an El Sistema orchestra of 170 youths to tour the US in the name of citizenship and peace. This week, the same government arrested 124 adolescents as part of its post-election-stealing repression."

The New York Times has subsequently reported on at least 24 deaths - now risen to 73 - caused by the resulting regime crackdown.

So, I ask once again, with the promise that this call is only going to grow louder: will you, Askonas Holt, take the correct moral decision in these appalling circumstances, and end your professional relationship with the Venezuelan regime, from whom you have already profited enough and for far too long? Or, will you continue to promote the values of music as an instrument of social transformation while making money from a brutal dictator?

#1Ago | La líder de la oposición María Corina Machado invitó a todos los venezolanos 🇻🇪 a movilizarse el sábado 03 de agosto.

El Wall Street Journal publicó un artículo hace unas horas que habría escrito Machado, en el que enviaba un mensaje a la comunidad internacional en el que sostuvo que los países democráticos deben acompañar a los venezolanos en su aspiración de libertad.

Explicó que se encuentra en resguardo y denunció que las fuerzas de seguridad podrían detenerla en cualquier momento. Resaltó que los venezolanos ya cumplieron con su deber para llevar al país hacia la democracia.
