Effective responses to sexual and gender-based violence depend on strong institutions, clear accountability and coordinated action.

In Nigeria, the EU-funded Support to End Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (ESGBV) Programme has established its Programme Steering Committee and Programme Technical Committee, creating the governance structures needed to guide implementation and strengthen collaboration across government, civil society and development partners.

With these mechanisms now in place, the programme can advance towards stronger legal and policy frameworks, improved access to survivor-centred justice and support services, and enhanced capacity for civil society and communities to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria.
