It is obvious "why":
Because if people truly believe the supernatural is real, they become much harder to control.
If you believe there is a real God, real spiritual powers, and that your soul is eternal, then governments lose their position as the highest authority in your life. You stop fearing them as much. You become less willing to obey everything they say. You start caring more about what God thinks than what the system thinks.

That’s dangerous for them.

They want you to believe only in material things — money, government, science, entertainment. That way they stay in power. Once people start believing in the supernatural and in God, their control over you becomes much weaker.
That’s why they mock it publicly, but study it privately.

Thank you, I needed this message. We were committed to preach and teach in my homeland, so we moved from Belgium. 3 months ago I had a choice: report abuse of children and a EU crime (Eph 5:11) and suffer consequences or hush the truth and suffer deportation of my husband back to BE. I chose truth and suffered one month ongoing hemathuria and still lasting hard lower back pain and difficulty to move. Due police and political involvement no investigation, assaulter running free, while we were being thrown on the street. Yet Jesus is the Lord. The message is pure TRUTH. Jesus did not promise easy ride, but His presence. And because His mercy I did not die.
