@IsikaEmmanuel_ I think it already is, over the years we have written about so many incredible innovations from the continent on https://t.co/ceUyJ67PJs. The biggest issues are still funding, which is not democratised. The money goes to just a few innovators, and many miss out.
That is a political issue, and policies will only be short term with changing governments. There needs to be consensus on science, tech and innovation. Africa has the right conditions for an innovation breeding and testing ground, and this should be encouraged!
@inventiveafrica As much as this is true, new tech face difficulties within 5 years of establishment. This account for 60% of faiilures.
We need long time policies and not those that changes on a shortime.
@IsikaEmmanuel_ My gut feeling is that new tech can find a home in the continent quicker due to less regulation, for example mobile money. Also, I have noticed that people from all walks of life pick up and utilise new tech quicker than I have seen in other places.
The greatest need for Africa is #digitization!!!!
#Africa needs to embrace innovation.
The old ways of doing things cannot solve communial problems, we need a new way and proven way of addressing problems.

Innovation could end up solving a problem created by lack of state capacity (which is almost always necessary in Africa).
I'd love to see the Nigerian governments reaction to this, will they ban or will they tax?
Foreign influence and investment in Africa is a tricky tightrope walk for African governments. Still many are not focussed on creating an infrastructure that limits the need for foreign interference.
i quite like how Africa is the test bed for a lot of new tech... in the long run it brings hope that they will finally catch up and then overtake their colonial forebears
