The Voters' Preference Survey (VPS) Series is now available for download.
The VPS is Nigeria's first national survey of voter attitudes, past voting behaviour, and future voting intentions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Drawing on the views of 11,196 eligible voters across the country, the VPS Series challenges long-held assumptions about women, youth, and persons with disabilities as political candidates, uncovers the structural barriers limiting their political representation, and provides new evidence to inform political campaigns, advocacy, policymaking, and conversations about Nigeria's democratic future.
Whether you are a policymaker, political actor, civil society organisation, journalist, or engaged citizen, this report provides evidence to better understand the opportunities and barriers shaping women's political representation.

66 years on, independence is more than a moment to celebrate.
It is also a reminder of the Nigeria we continue to build, one where every citizen can live with dignity, participate meaningfully, and have their voices count.
Happy Independence Day! ๐ณ๐ฌ๐
๐It costs just โฆ1,086 per woman, per year, to fully stock Kaduna Stateโs health facilities with childbirth-spacing commodities.
That small investment could help women in Kaduna State avoid unsafe abortions, survive childbirth, and avoid complications like obstetric fistula.
If โฆ1,086 per woman, per year can keep these essential commodities available through 2028, this is an investment worth making.
Invictus Africa's Childbirth-Spacing Number Series shows what timely funding can make possible for women in Kaduna State.

As a candidate in the 2027 elections, do you know that the same approach may not work for every audience?
Episode 5 of the Votersโ Preference Survey Campaign Guide explores how voting decisions can differ depending on who you are trying to reach.
With the VPS, there is no assumption. Use the data to understand the voters you want to reach.

An available childbirth-spacing method when she needed it made all the difference for Mrs. Abigail Joel.
Mrs. Joelโs story shows what timely access to childbirth-spacing commodities can make possible for women in Kaduna State.
Invictus Africaโs evidence shows that if the Kaduna State Government releases all the funds budgeted for childbirth-spacing commodities on time each year from 2026 to 2028, it could avert about 21,000 unintended pregnancies.
When funding is not released on time, another hopeful woman like Mrs. Joel could be at risk of an unintended pregnancy too soon.
Invictus Africa's Childbirth-Spacing Number Series shows what timely funding can make possible for women in Kaduna State.

Approving a budget is only the starting point. The gap between what governments budget and what they actually fund still needs to be closed.
The Womenโs Health Advocacy Project is working across Kaduna (@ubasanius), Kano (@Kyusufabba), and Gombe (@governor_gombe) States to reveal what is possible when budgeted funds for childbirth-spacing commodities are released fully, on time, and consistently.
The impact of a budget is measured not just by what is approved, but by what reaches the people it was meant to serve.

In Kaduna, only about 1 in 8 women of reproductive age are using a modern contraceptive method.
So what happens when a woman visits a health facility looking for a method, only to find none available?
She leaves without the care she came for.
Kaduna State has already taken the first step by budgeting for childbirth-spacing commodities.
The next step is for the budget to be released in full and on time every year, so up to 70,000 more women can have access to these services by 2028.
Follow along as we share the numbers that show what timely funding can make possible in Kaduna State.

Why budget billions and release millions?
What is budgeted must be funded, and governments must release approved funds so they reach the people who need them.
Invictus Africaโs Womenโs Health Advocacy Project highlights what Kaduna (@ubasanius), Kano (@Kyusufabba), and Gombe (@governor_gombe) stand to gain when budgeted funds for childbirth-spacing commodities are released fully, on time and consistently each year through 2028.

๐What could change if Kaduna State (@GovKaduna) consistently budgeted and released the funds for childbirth-spacing commodities?
About 315,000 married women in Kaduna already want to space their pregnancies but cannot access the method they want.
Invictus Africaโs evidence shows that if Kaduna closes the full funding gap from 2026 to 2028, the state could prevent 193 maternal deaths by 2028.
But this depends on ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ, ๐๐ฏ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ, ๐๐ง๐ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐, so the commodities are available when they need them.
The Kaduna State Government can make these outcomes possible.
Follow along as we share the numbers that show what timely funding can make possible in Kaduna State.

Three states. One question.
Invictus Africaโs data show what is possible when budget allocations translate into services women can access between 2026 and 2028 in Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe States.
These women are counting on their governments to make the funding count.

A functional gender-based violence (GBV) desk can help survivors access the information and support they need and connect them to pathways for redress. Yet many communities across Nigeria lack these structures or have desks that are not functioning as they should.
That is why Invictus Africa supported @DEANinitiative to equip 30 Community GBV Champions from Gwagwalada, Kuje, and Kwali Area Councils through the VAPP-Local GBV Champions Training with knowledge of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act (VAPP).
Through the training, Invictus Africa strengthened the GBV Championsโ understanding of what is happening in their communities, what the law requires, who is responsible, and what needs to change. They also gained tools to use evidence and advocacy to engage decision-makers.
We are glad to support this community-led action to end violence against women and girls in Nigeria.
At Invictus Africa, we don't just produce evidence and resources. We also equip people with the knowledge and tools to turn evidence into action.
Want to understand the VAPP Act and use the law to inform GBV advocacy?

How we budget for women reflects how our society sees them.
But beyond budgeting, we must release allocations so women can access the services they need.
That is what Invictus Africa's work across Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe is examining: what timely funding for childbirth-spacing commodities can make possible for women and families.
If we value women, it must show in our budgets and how we release funds.

Flashback to our exhibition walkway at #GS26 โจ
Through stories, survivor materials, and our documentary, the exhibition invited visitors to encounter the experiences of women and girls affected by the Boko Haram conflict and reflect on what life looks like for survivors after the conflict.
Hereโs a glimpse of the exhibition.
And stay with us as we share what some of the people who walked through it had to say about what stayed with them. ๐ฅ

The next chapter starts now.
With renewed support, Invictus Africa will build on the progress made in Oyo State and extend the GREBS work to five additional states.
Thank you, @MalalaFund, for continuing to invest in locally led solutions.
But adoption is not the finish line.
To support implementation, Invictus Africa worked with Oyo State budget officers to co-create practical tools and processes for integrating gender-responsive budgeting into the stateโs next education budget cycle.
