🔺 A move by Ansarallah to choke off the Bab al-Mandab strait would compound the economic shock already caused by the fighting in the Strait of Hormuz, Iona Craig writes for Drop Site News.

🔸Roughly 25 percent of global container trade normally passes through Bab al-Mandab toward the Suez Canal; the alternative around South Africa adds 10 to 14 days and about $1 million in fuel per round trip.

🔸The threat is sharper now because since March, Saudi Arabia has leaned on its East-West pipeline to bypass Hormuz, exporting crude to Asia from its Red Sea terminal at Yanbu, straight through Bab al-Mandab.

🔸Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has endorsed the threat, warning the US and its allies that if the fighting continues, chokepoints beyond the Strait of Hormuz, including the Red Sea, could also be closed to those countries.

Let's not forget. The U.S. has form for lying about using Tomahawk missiles, especially when they kill lots of children.
