My last English class prompt for the year was to write about a belief you hold strongly. I have lived and breathed club soccer my entire adolescent life, and I’m incredibly grateful for all that soccer has given me. However, I decided to leave club soccer a couple months ago. I’ve learned that leaving doesn’t mean that you’ve failed, only that you’ve grown. Hopefully this will reach another person struggling with the thought of being labeled as a “quitter” or “too weak”. Hopefully they can find peace in knowing that they’re not alone in their fears, and that a single activity or label doesn’t define them as a person.
