Latvia marks very grim anniversary. 85 years ago Riga Choral Synagogue was burned to the ground with people locked inside. Tens of thousands of Jews were murdered by Nazis and their collaborators during Holocaust. We also honour those who risked their lives and saved many Jews.

Today, we commemorate the victims of the genocide against the Jewish people in Latvia. Tens of thousands were killed, tortured and displaced during the Nazi occupation of Latvia.

We must preserve historical memory and ensure justice to ensure such atrocities never happen again.

Many people may not know that I have a very personal connection with the United States.

The atmosphere felt like being part of a Broadway show, with an incredible line-up of top-level artists, all brought together under the direction of legendary songwriter and producer David Foster himself.

Latvia condemns Iran's drone attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait. We stand in solidarity with partners in the Gulf.

These attacks are reckless and threaten regional stability. Iran must stop immediately, fully comply with the signed MoU and implement UN SC Resolution 2817.

On June 18, the 5th meeting of the strategic dialogue between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of #Azerbaijan and the Republic of #Latvia was held in Riga. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister, Fariz Rzayev, while the Latvian side was headed by Under-Secretary of State, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, @IvarsLasis1.
The sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations, underscoring the importance of regular contacts and mutual visits. Discussions also highlighted new opportunities for cooperation in trade, economy, education, science, and culture.
As part of the visit, Fariz Rzayev also met with Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Saeima of Latvia, @IMurniece, and Foreign Affairs Adviser to the President of Latvia, Edvīns Severs, and participated in roundtable discussions with Latvian experts on Azerbaijan’s foreign and security policy. 🇦🇿🇱🇻
