I understand that we northerners, myself included, hate hearing criticism of the North in an Igbo or Yoruba accent.
But we should be saying it ourselves.
Mass weddings are bad government policy. We are treating the symptoms and ignoring the disease.
The reason 2,000 couples need help to marry is poverty.
Let’s solve that instead of papering over the cracks.
Until Muslims worldwide start making videos condemning Islamic terrorists and apologize for the atrocities committed in Allah’s name, I won’t take them seriously.
Never let Muslims gaslight you.
Some of you have money.
Invest in ranches. Show them it can be done. Import farm tech if you must. It is doable.
No be to buy car, carry go test for country with roads wey get high speed limit.
Nigeria is yet to be industrialised.
And that sector is dark.
When people come out and say, "Fulani leaders should..." or "Fulani people should...", what exactly do they expect us to do? Are we even safe from these bandits?
My brother-in-law was kidnapped in 2021 and held in Kainji Lake National Park until a ransom was paid for his release. Immediately after they were abducted, he heard the kidnappers saying that if they got hold of any Fulani among the captives, they would kill him instantly because a Fulani would know the terrain and could easily expose them if released. They also claimed that some Fulani had escaped with a large amount of money when they carried out the attack. It was a vehicle conveying cattle marketers, and because of the alertness of some of the passengers, the kidnappers lost the money. That loss, they said, was one of the reasons they vowed to kill any Fulani they got hold of. And yes, the kidnappers themselves were Fulani.
Upon hearing this, my brother-in-law kept quiet and, when asked about his ethnicity, claimed to be Zarma. Fortunately, he is dark-skinned and does not have curled hair. He and the other captives were held for several days before their release.
Whenever I talk about this, some people still say that we have no right to complain because it was done by "our people." When a Fulani is kidnapped or ki.lled, they dismiss it as an in-house matter and sometimes even celebrate it, claiming it is merely a fight between bandits.
I eventually stopped talking about banditry and kidnapping because many people do not want to hear the truth. They don't consider ours cries and appeals to be genuine. And they don't believe tgat we also suffer from this menace. Instead of forming alliances and attack this head-on, they would rather hold their fellow citizens collectively responsible and then continue lamenting the insecurity around them.
We are not ready to fight insecurity. If we were, we would know exactly who should be held accountable and pressured to act.
The next President of Nigeria must cancel Sharia law in the whole of Nigeria and it should be enshrined in the constitution that no future government has the right to implement it.
We must put an end to this barbaric behavior once and for all.
In any sane Soceity, a fulani boy is thinking of how to use his father's wealth to build a ranch. Apply biotech, or just tech to improve his father's cattle business.
We went to school with some of them, and some went abroad for their school.
Fulani leaders refused taking deliberate steps 2 enlighten dr people, gv dm education, n atleast show them that there is more 2 life than remaining isolated in d bush, instead they chose d easier path. For years, they kept on insisting dat it ws simply “their way of life”
It still has those.
What it needs is a business enabling environment.
No tax cuts, no aids, plenty bribes, touts are a business expenditure.
For a developing continent, non of these is favorable.
The African continent doesn’t need more entrepreneurs. It’s full of them.
What it needs is a specific class of entrepreneurs called industrialists: business people who build value-adding firms in export-oriented job creating sectors, not rent capture.
This is a blue ticked handle, so I understand the ragebait.
But Na ONE man, tell una ONE scenerio, of him PLENTY beautiful life with him WIFE.
Una Don start gender war with una invisible husbands.
Going through that tweet where that man said his wife made sure they paid rent, bought food and fix important things before their wedding and seeing lot of men saying things like :this is the kind of woman every man needs, how what she did is the bare minimum which I agree.
My question now is, if men as the head need woman to make sure they make important decisions such as paying rents, what then do you all; heads of the family use your heads for? 🤦🏽♀️
It's election period, that is one of the reason insecurity has sky rocketed.
But it has happened to the opposition before. So what does this tell you?
Someone is in business and this is their season.
Those are the people you should be worried about.
The Vikings were known for invading and conquering kingdoms, taking their gold, jewels, lands, and even their women. Yet today, Norwegians proudly celebrate their Viking heritage.
Meanwhile, some of you are so eager to throw your own traditions and cultural identity under the bus because women are not allowed to break kola nuts.
Ndị ala😂
With the uproar of this terrorist demands in oyo. I have not seen arewa twitter talk o.
If it's my algorithm, someone bring all their tweets here.
You'd think they will denounce the terrorist using their religion to cause havoc but we know what we are doing.
"islamophobia" 🤣🤣
You can be a tourist in Nigeria and won't hear of these insecurities as well.
Depends on your time of stay, where you stayed, and what brought you there(it influences the type of conversation you have with locals).
@emetogn@AScully789 I don’t take a random tweets word but I did look it up and it appears to be true. I was there a few years ago and didn’t hear much but I guess it’s gotten worse since then smh
If Fulanis were only a problem in Nigeria, i may have agreed not to stereotype all fulanis that its only some bad eggs. But map every single country where fulanis are located in Africa, they are all under conflict. From Fulanis. Northern Ghana, Senegal, Centra Africa, same thing
