@kfalconspb Bring back giving out nice watches for 10/15 year service. One of the best places I worked used to do it and it was always appreciated. Other such items work as well, it just so happens, I do like a nice watch.
@JordeeBrompton That way you are offsetting the DCs power requirements against a whole areas heating/hot water energy use. I’ve not done all the numbers, but I think it’s got legs. There were a couple of companies in the UK in the past that operated energy similarly centralised, just no DC part
@JordeeBrompton That’s awesome! The other thing I’ve looked at in recent years is how smaller local data centres can be used to provide heat/hot water for a community or for a swimming pool. New build estates include a DC, but it’s built with a heat pump network that connects to all houses.
Getting started at #TFDx at #NetAppINSIGHT, we are recording today for streaming starting tomorrow. Kicking off is Jeff Baxter, VP of Product Marketing. Opening the day with an overview of what we heard in the keynote, just giving a nice recap, very "Previously on...." kinda vibe
ONTAP for the exabyte era, introducing NetApp AFX. Disaggregated storage architecture. It’s been talked about for many years, it’s finally here, let’s see if it can live up to the hype. #NetAppINSIGHT#TFDx
George Kurian takes the stage discussing NetApp’s vision for the future of data management and how that plays into the explosion of AI and how we want to access and process data for these new use cases. #NetAppINSIGHT#TFDx
I’m here at the #NetAppINSIGHT 2025 keynote with #TFDx I’m going to be walking through all the news as it comes straight from the stage. There’s going to be a huge focus on #AI here today. Which is just a buzzing topic across the entire industry. AI <3 Data, how do we feed it!
@virtualhobbit It’s pretty simple and low cost, have used it a lot over the years, really useful for getting paid when doing work for companies in other countries, gives more flexibility in what exchange rates and fees you pay. Can use the debit card against all of the local currencies as well
@virtualhobbit I have a Wise account that gives me a US bank account, so I’ve got standard US account numbers and stuff, I can then just send like it’s an internal transfer in the US
@MichaelCade1 Greenfield/startups you often see more cohesive tooling, but that then usually is based on who’s there and what their own experiences are rather than anything else, and in smaller companies it can come down to cost. ADO had some competitive pricing last time I looked.
@MichaelCade1 The bigger or older the org the more likely to see lots of different stuff in use in my experience, as it’s painful to move from some of these tools, the disruption outweighs any benefits of migrating to a more unified solution. But it’s possible and people do take on that move.
@RupertLowe10 Families should have better options for taxation, the joint filing ability and offsets in the US are generally less punitive even though we have better benefits options. We are financially worse off, our school and care systems are broken, it’s no wonder.
@RupertLowe10 I could go on and on, the state of everything in this country related to having and raising children has gone downhill significantly in my lifetime. It’s no wonder less and less people have children. Even the changes from state run schools is a disaster.
