The โbest coffeeโ app does not have a listing for @grind South Bank or @Calico (Lower Marsh) which is criminal given the scarcity of good coffee in SE1.
@TowerofAdam1 any person in any country should be free to follow their faith if they so wish. Trying to mandate faith is, honestly bonkers. Iโm fascinated by Christianity, but my next big read is MacCulloch so my interest is more historical than theological
@TowerofAdam1 I read this. Thank you. I was aware it was happening and meant to take a look but forgot. I appreciate your take. I donโt think there is anything Christian about Christian nationalism. Any merging of politics and faith smells like theocracy to me.
I liked how the performative aspect of influencer culture was used as a dark-mirror of societal expectations on women to โperformโ in their allotted roles. The ending was clever, if somewhat brutal.
Add me to the list of people who claim Yesteryear as a five-star read. A withering critique of modernity and its pathology of retro-mania and back-to-the-land philosophy.
@Robkearney1981@default_friend I completely agree. Having to drive to shops, restaurants, everywhere in fact. Absence of theatre, galleries, music venues. Lack of public transport. Total lack of vibrancy. I could cope with the countryside. I do not cope with suburbs. I work from home but commute to leisure.
@signulll Once, Twitter was the solution to this and I found my tribe. Made real-life friends of them. Now, Twitter is part of the problem, itโs just white noise and self-promotion (largely).
@default_friend what if years of validation by internet and social media echo chambers which has eroded critical thinking has enabled a maladaptive relationship with permanently-validating AI systems ๐ค
@default_friend Iโve been thinking about AI a lot and your internet maladaptation theory and how it could extend to AI. Your writing makes my brain hurt less. I think I paid for your Substack but Iโm always too overwhelmed when I open that app to read anything.
Raoul Vaneigem has died. He leaves us no instruction manual, thankfully โ only an insistence that everyday life can still be stolen back from work, boredom and obedience: in argument, song, drink, dance, love, revolt and the invention of new poetry.
Before I made myself angry, I was going to say that LinkedIn is the best evidence to support my suggestion that social media should be made illegal for adults.
Every "professional" who uses AI to post those stupid shitty, overly long posts on LinkedIn is DIRECTLY responsible for the this new horror of mass destruction of antique literature. If re-ingested that AI-slop would collapse frontier models, so this is what those maniacs chose to do.

AI companies are buying books and destroying them.
A process called destructive book scanning in which a machine rips from the book the spine and scan the page one by one.
@fullpeltmusic@2000trees Haggard Cat silent disco, this was an unexpected treasure. Cancer Bats and High Vis memories are making Monday at work feel bearable. Frozemode continue to be underrated.
