🇬🇭 As parents across #Ghana prepare to send their children to secondary school, here is a finding from some of our recent research.
A favourable household demographic structure does not automatically translate into better welfare. The gains emerge only where there has been sufficient prior investment in education.
Education is expensive. But underinvesting in it may ultimately cost households and the country much more.

🇬🇭Finally, I look at corruption.
If religion strengthens moral norms, we might expect more religious societies to exhibit lower corruption.
But across countries, the data suggests a different pattern.
More religious countries tend to have higher levels of #corruption—this holds across multiple measures.
This is not a causal claim.
It suggests that claims of strong personal faith do not automatically produce strong public institutions.
🇬🇭We keep blaming wages. The data points more to a revenue problem.
#Ghana’s wage bill isn’t unusually high by peer standards.
The issue is a weak revenue base that cannot sustain even a 'normal' payroll.
That’s the real fiscal constraint.
