#CooperaciónBilateral || Como parte de la agenda de reuniones bilaterales en Cusco, Perú durante la XVII Conferencia de Ministros de Defensa de las Américas, el Jefe del Estado Mayor Conjunto, General de División Héctor Benjamín Valerio Ardón, sostuvo un encuentro con Joseph Humire, Subsecretario de Guerra para Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental de los Estados Unidos.

Durante la reunión se reafirmó la voluntad de fortalecer la cooperación bilateral y los históricos lazos de amistad entre Honduras y los Estados Unidos, promoviendo el intercambio de experiencias y el trabajo conjunto en materia de defensa y seguridad.

Finalizamos nuestra visita a Washington con la agenda del sector Defensa con el acompañamiento del señor Joseph M. Humire, Subsecretario de Guerra para Asuntos de Seguridad de las Américas.

Durante la jornada se sostuvieron reuniones con las principales oficinas responsables de seguridad hemisférica, cooperación en seguridad, defensa de la patria, ciberseguridad, defensa económica, operaciones especiales, lucha contra el narcotráfico y la Oficina del Secretario de Guerra de los Estados Unidos.

En estos espacios se exploró la construcción conjunta de un nuevo programa bilateral de cooperación y asistencia estratégica, con proyección regional, denominado Plan Patriota 2.0. Esta iniciativa se concibe como parte del ingreso de Colombia a la Coalición Americana contra los Carteles y se fundamenta en el diseño de la nueva Política de Defensa, Seguridad y Convivencia Ciudadana, así como en la estrategia de Campañas Militares y Policiales sobre Áreas Priorizadas para la Recuperación y Estabilización de la Seguridad.

La agenda incluyó el compromiso de recuperar, modernizar y fortalecer capacidades estratégicas deterioradas durante los últimos años, entre ellas la disponibilidad y el sostenimiento de la flota de helicópteros; los sistemas de protección contra drones; la asistencia técnica mediante asesores especializados en inteligencia, planeamiento y justicia; el fortalecimiento de las capacidades de ciberdefensa y ciberseguridad; y la estructuración de un nuevo programa de entrenamiento conjunto. Este último tendrá como proyección la creación en Colombia de un Centro Regional de Entrenamiento contra el Narcotráfico y las Amenazas Transnacionales, orientado a mejorar la interoperabilidad, la preparación operacional y la cooperación con países aliados.

También se planteó avanzar en capacidades de inteligencia, vigilancia y reconocimiento; operaciones especiales; protección de infraestructura crítica; interdicción aérea, marítima y fluvial; sostenimiento logístico; comunicaciones interoperables; investigación criminal transnacional; y transferencia de conocimiento y tecnología, entre otras áreas prioritarias.

Con esta agenda, Colombia inicia una nueva etapa de cooperación, integración y acción conjunta en defensa y seguridad con los Estados Unidos, orientada a recuperar capacidades, derrotar las amenazas narcoterroristas, fortalecer la autoridad legítima del Estado y contribuir a la estabilidad regional.

Last night, U.S. Marines with Littoral Combat Force-24 and U.S. Sailors from USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28), delivered critically needed disaster assistance supplies with a Landing Craft, Utility at La Guaira port, Venezuela.

Earlier today, the men and women of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Florida Task Force 1 (#FLTF1) boarded a plane and began their mission to Venezuela.

Departing from Homestead Air Reserve Base with the support of @Southcom, they carry with them far more than specialized training and equipment. They carry compassion, hope, and commitment to stand beside those facing unimaginable hardship.

Behind every member of this team is a family they have hugged goodbye so they can answer the call of someone in need. That is the true meaning of service.

We could not be more proud of these extraordinary men and women. When disaster strikes, they don’t ask who needs help or where they are from, they are simply ready to respond and ready to serve. Their courage and selflessness remind us that humanity has no borders, and that sometimes the greatest act of kindness is simply showing up when someone needs you most.

From South Florida, second home to the largest Venezuelan population outside of South America, we ask that you keep all first responders in your thoughts as they represent our community with honor, compassion, and hope.
