Algu, born in South Africa, said she felt obligated to speak against Israel’s bombing of hospitals in Gaza. She & 2 doctors, called to a meeting that discussed advocacy, filed complaints of reprisals after. The 2 doctors’ contracts were not renewed. Then came the investigation.
