Trace has shown himself to be a consistent hitter with an excellent bat path that stays in the zone for an extended period of time, allowing him to produce hard, consistent contact.

Trace also brings legitimate speed, running a 6.5–6.6 60-yard dash, which gives him the ability to impact the game on the bases and consistently put pressure on opposing defenses.

Defensively, Trace has been solid at a high athletic level at both shortstop and center field. His athleticism, range, and versatility allow him to handle multiple premium defensive positions.
