@PatrickChristys The Afghan plot to fly thousands of possible Taliban members to the U.K. shows we have something worse than a dysfunctional state. We have an actively hostile one.
'If you want the evisceration of the Conservative Party, go ahead and vote Reform'
Catch up now on today's Daily T where former Tory minister @michaelgove joins @CamillaTominey and @timothy_stanley to discuss the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Brexit referendum and the Makerfield by-election. Gove also insists that the Tories are the only credible party on the Right, saying he’s more right-wing than Nigel Farage and that Rupert Lowe is 'a joke'

So much of this stuff - which really originates from the Martin Lewis money saving universe - is just an attempt to protect people from the consequences of their actions.
You didn’t get married and now find you’ve not got the protections of marriage? Well maybe you should have.
Many unmarried, cohabiting couples have limited legal protections if their relationship ends or a partner dies, even after long-term relationships or raising children together.
Labour is consulting on reforms to strengthen the legal protections available to these couples.
Perhaps if Kier Starmer so objects to JD Vance “interfering in our democracy” he shouldn’t have sent a planeload of Labour activists to campaign for Kamala Harris.
🚨New MCC Brussels podcast🚨
Trump has given Brussels a deadline.
Is it the remigration’s moment?
Paris riots and the normalisation of civil disorder
@jacobreynolds | @RichardJSchenk | @mrpaulmccarthy
This is an important and sophisticated report.
The EU is locked in a cycle of regulation, which means it falls behind, and then tries to regulate around its failure.
The technological sovereignty buzzword does not correct this.
🚨 NEW REPORT:
Why EU digital sovereignty is misguided, dangerous and impossible.
In The Grand Delusion, @Norm_Lewis argues that Brussels’ latest tech ambition is politically confused, empirically impossible and strategically self-defeating.

We are in a period where growing public awareness of the insanity of British state will translate into increasing public anger and possible disorder.
Thus any politician calling attention to the insanity will be perceived by the establishment of calling for disorder.
Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar is good at deception.
Yesterday, in a press conference with Friedrich Merz, he pointedly refused to endorse starting Ukraine’s accession talks.
A few days earlier, he publicly stated that Ukraine would not start until sweeping language reforms were made for Ukraine’s Hungarian minority.
On camera - he is continuing Orbán’s signature policies.
Yet behind closed doors, he immediately dropped both of these points.
I’d wager this is a good window into how Magyar will play politics: publicly he will pretend to be a staunch defender of Hungary’s interests, only to abandon these principles behind closed doors.
We need to completely destroy this sentimental discourse revolving around "respecting wishes" and the avoidance of "division" or "inflammatory rhetoric"- the British people are not children- they have the right to ascribe political significance to how they are policed, and they have the right to ascribe political significance to Henry Nowak
One of the things Zia gets is that people like Cathy Newman are not journalists and so the pretence they are there to “ask questions” should be blatantly ignored.
Henry Nowak: we must demand accountability - @JakeRWeston
Accountability is not hatred. Perhaps Farage is correct and on this – ‘we should be angry’. Because if a young man’s death, a catalogue of institutional failures, and a political ideology that repeatedly seems to blind public bodies to reality, cannot justify our anger, then what can?

“Combine the war on air-conditioning with face-scraping bottle caps, vehicle levies, self-dissolving paper straws, plastic-bag charges, and deposit-return schemes and the cumulative toll of these climate absolutions is is simply depressing.”
Me for @brusselssignal
“Henry’s family responded in the most dignified way. But I suggest the rest of us respond to this with pure, cold, rage.”
This is exceptionally good. Bravo @Nigel_Farage
The police response to the Nowak murder angers because it encapsulates the attitude of the police to almost everyone:
No, it didn’t happen, we don’t care, shut up, bleed out for all I care.
The Nowak case really sums up what you might call the malicious incompetence of the British state.
You will be handcuffed while dying because it matches the anti-racism training a copper received.
If Hampshire Police continues to cover up the Henry Nowak bodycam footage, as Home Secretary in a Reform government I would release it immediately.
However bad they think it is.
However much they may be concerned about public order in reaction to it.
It will be FAR worse if they sit on it.
