In 2018, years into his battle with cancer, Norm Macdonald posted perhaps his greatest published thought.

“At times, the joy that life attacks me with is unbearable and leads to gasping hysterical laughter,” he wrote on X. “I find myself completely out of control and wonder how life could surprise me again and again and again, so completely. How could a man be a cynic? It is a sin.”

Remembering Beirut Barracks bombing, 43 years ago….

[Masih Alinejad @AlinejadMasih]

She was born in Iran and built her life in Afghanistan a woman's rights activist with a voice that frightened the men around her.

So her ex-husband threw acid on her face.

In the hospital, after the surgeries, she sat with her head shaved doctors had taken skin from her scalp to rebuild her face. She was still bandaged, still bleeding, still healing.

But her son was not by her side. He was living with his father. And his father set the condition: if you want to talk to your son, you will do it on a video call so I can see what you've become.

She accepted. She needed to hear her child's voice.

On that call, her ex-husband looked at her destroyed face and smiled. He said: "Look at you. You've become like a monster. You'll never dare go out in public again people will be terrified when they see you. I dare you. I dare you to go out and talk about women's rights."

He thought he had broken her. He thought that face was the end of her.

He was wrong.

Every scar on her face became a sentence in her speech. They took her beauty so she took his fear and turned it into courage. Today she walks in public with her head high, and she speaks about women's rights louder than ever.

He wanted to bury her in shame. Instead, he gave the world a witness.

That is why I invited her to our Freedom gala in Poland to dedicate to her the Medal of Freedom I received. Because she is the symbol of resilience itself: the symbol of every woman whose face was burned but whose voice could not be silenced.

Thank you, Poland for opening your doors, for giving visas to my delegation of women from Iran, Afghanistan, and Cameroon.

We are about to start a global women's rights movement and we will go together, all of us, to the German Parliament very soon.

This time, I invited 10 women. In Berlin, we will invite more dissidents.

And this week, the NYT polled them!

TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

“I’m an American. I work for the Washington Post. My story’s getting a lot of attention around the world. Everyone wants to talk to me. But I can't imagine what it’s like for all of the victims that have gone through this same ordeal and are living with the threat of this violence on a daily basis,” journalist Heidi Levine, who was violently assaulted by Israeli settlers last week, told @CNN's @jaketapper.

After her rally with @BarackObama, @amyactonoh told me she hopes President Trump and Vice President Vance will “look at the facts” of the abuse she says she endured as a child, as they have defended the attack ad made by GOP nominee Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign.

Ramaswamy and Acton have never met in person. Asked what she would say to him, Acton said: “I really have no words for Mr. Ramaswamy. I think there is no low that he wouldn’t sink to.”

“He’s very clearly out of touch. He’s out for himself and his friends, and quite frankly, he’s a danger to my state.”

Alaskans don’t need any help voting for their preferred candidates, and the State of Alaska has already handled this by clearly distinguishing the candidates on this year’s ballot. The Department of Justice should never have filed this lawsuit.

The warnings from the U.S. government couldn’t be any more clear — the threat is real.

Unnecessary travel to high risk locations endangers more than your own well being. It puts intelligence, law enforcement, diplomatic, and military assets at risk.

Heed the war warnings.
