Labour’s Budget hikes taxes, increases borrowing, and has stopped growth stone dead.
The government should change course if it wants growth.
My closing speech opposing the damaging Finance Bill 🥀
Labour promised 6,500 new teachers. Today we learned that there are 1,900 FEWER teachers. It turns out Keir Starmer’s approach to promises is the same as he does with his messages - auto delete.
Every life matters.
One law. One standard. For everyone.
This is about justice, for Henry, for his family and for all our children. They deserve better.
** Warning distressing content **
As Henry Nowak lay dying, saying repeatedly that he couldn’t breathe and that he had been stabbed, he was handcuffed and officers cautioned him
All because they unquestioningly believed his murderer’s claims Henry had racially abused them
This was totally wrong
They did not handcuff the murderer when he was arrested
The police should not believe false allegations of racism, especially when made by criminals
We all knew it but here’s the Work and Pensions Secretary saying what his fellow Labour MPs think.
Not the Labour Party, the Welfare Party hiking taxes ever higher to pay for benefits street.
Conservatives are the only party committed to welfare savings.
They are no longer the Labour Party, they are the Welfare Party. It doesn’t matter who is in charge of these people, the party for Benefits Street will tax us all into poverty to pay for more welfare.
Pat McFadden has said in private what he and the Prime Minister deny in public. As I’ve said repeatedly, Labour MPs don’t understand where money comes from. They think our taxes are their money to spend, rather than the result of the hard work of the people in our country who deserve so much better.
The Conservative party is the only party holding Labour to account, as Reform, Lib Dems the SNP and others join Labour in demanding the state pay more and more benefits.
MPs from all parties have warned of the damage Starmer’s steel tariffs will do. His Business Secretary and ministers are ignoring those warnings. When will he act and change course? ⏰
Does the Transport Secretary even know they run the trains to King’s Lynn?
Keeps going on about Gatwick Airport but she’s a London MP so no surprise.
But when passengers can’t get regular on time services to/from King’s Lynn she is now accountable for the poor service.
Today we've renationalised the UK's largest train operator.
Passengers will see fewer last-minute cancellations, cleaner toilets and more services to Gatwick Airport.
We are building Great British Railways. 🇬🇧🚆

Once again @Conservatives leading in forcing Labour to do the right thing.
While Labour spend their time arguing about what they believe, Kemi’s Conservatives are clear.
Live within our means, back people doing the right thing. Support business, cheaper energy, and more.
The Conservative Party has now set out an amendment to the Armed Forces Bill that will require Healey to lay the DIP before Parliament within one month of the Act receiving Royal Assent
Having shadowed Dan in the Finance Bill I didn’t spot much simplification in the 356 pages implementing a £26 billion tax raising budget.
But certainly new taxes including CBAM, family farm and business tax, milkshake tax, 🚕 tax and more to come including holiday tax.
Rail Minister wrote to me. His letter suggests he has no idea GTR services are poor to King’s Lynn.
More trains to Gatwick and other points are irrelevant. We want local good services.
Having been sceptical nationalisation was the answer, this shows Labour ain’t gonna help.
Oh dear, Wes has no idea.
Has Labour learnt nothing from how their attack on investors & businesses have hit growth?
But then he doesn’t have the numbers either so no surprise.
Look forward to NAO report on how he claimed to have “cut” waiting lists and how he did it ✏️ 😜
139 mph in 30 mph zone killing an innocent person
Passenger got longer sentence than driver
Sickening. Parliament legislated for max life sentence for causing death by dangerous driving
Why do judges pass soft sentences?
Will be referring this unduly lenient sentence ⚖️

Labour MPs don't know where money comes from. That's why Keir Starmer is a dud and why every contender lining up to replace him will be one too.
You can't fix this busted flush of economic illiteracy that is the Labour Party, so stop trying.

Dan's point about tax simplification is a good one, he mentions that Nigel Lawson sought to abolish one tax a year. Well, last year we arguably abolished 3 taxes...we scrapped bingo duty; we got rid of the shadow Advance Corporation Tax rules; and also repealed the Diverted Profits Tax, folding it into CT. Will keep looking at what more we can do on simplification.
False narrative @TorstenBell
See how NEETs went up under Labour to nearly 17%. We brought them down to under 10%*
Yes, then the pandemic…everyone knows that hit young people…but not as badly as a Labour Government.
