I’m delighted to report that the oak tree I planted in the gardens of Vaduz Castle with H.R.H. Hereditary Princess Sophie in March 2023 in honour of her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II @QGCanopy is growing well and looking healthy despite this summer’s heat.

Her Late Majesty visited Liechtenstein in 1980 and enjoyed many happy memories of her time with the Princely family.

The UK and Switzerland have concluded negotiations on an enhanced Free Trade Agreement, with services at its heart. 🇨🇭🤝🇬🇧

It is a modern and ambitious agreement that reflects the strength of a relationship built on trade, investment, innovation, science and technology. Its potential impact is significant: as a result of the agreement, total bilateral services trade is estimated to increase by around CHF 7.9 billion per year in the long run, equivalent to a 25% uplift.

For businesses, professionals and researchers in both countries, it is expected to make it easier to trade, invest, travel and collaborate across borders. At a time of global uncertainty, the agreement underlines the UK and Switzerland’s shared commitment to open markets, partnership and future growth.

In the early hours of this morning, I directed our Armed Forces to intercept a shadow fleet oil tanker attempting to pass through the English Channel.

This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fueling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide.

I want to thank those involved, including our Armed Forces and law enforcement officers who keep this country safe 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
