New: Dan Osborn, the former independent Nebraska Senate candidate, launched a new hybrid PAC today, the Working Class Heroes Fund.
It would support working-class candidates and causes, including aiding striking workers. Candidates who want an endorsement must refuse corporate PAC money.
@ZephyrTeachout In other words, this isn't a "Trump's gonna do what Trump's gonna do" situation, since there's no upside in firing the board if he doesn't have to in order to get a majority.
@ZephyrTeachout The concern is that confirming McFerran will prompt Trump to fire the board and throw it into chaos, which he otherwise wouldn't do since he'd quickly get a majority.
I'm not saying that's reason not to confirm her -- just a consideration even among big McFerran supporters
Senate D's have a chance to lock in a Dem majority at the NLRB deep into 2026 by re-confirming Lauren McFerran before Jan 3.
The fear is that will goad Trump into firing McFerran et al to get their GOP board, prompting a much more perilous legal fight.

A Republican-majority NLRB is not the only problem this ruling faces. Employers will certainly challenge it on First Amendment grounds (hello, Fifth Circuit), and it may end up before the conservative supermajority at SCOTUS
BREAKING: The NLRB just banned mandatory anti-union "captive-audience" meetings in a precedent-setting ruling against Amazon.
Trump's win, however, means a GOP-majority board would be able to overturn this once they're in power.

Elissa Slotkin did.

You might even argue that the attitude that unions should simply be grateful to the Democratic Party is one of the reasons a) union density is in the toilet, b) Donald Trump is president-elect
A frank assessment you don't often hear publicly from Dems' union allies.
Painters union @GoIUPAT: "the Democratic Party failed to offer a compelling working class agenda and the election results show as much."
IUPAT is the most progressive union in the building trades
A lot of irate folks on here seem to think Williams is pro-Trump because he criticized the Dem campaign/messaging; some have even wished for his union to suffer. He and his union ran the most aggressive GOTV program for Harris in the building trades!
Spot on from @zachdcarter: “Where Trump offers cheap scapegoating, Democrats must instead revive a politics of public accountability.”
Trump’s success is the product of a political culture of impunity. Democrats can win by confronting that. https://t.co/1kQgjhHfaK
One of the few exceptions to a wretched night for progressives: paid-sick day ballot measures passing in Nebraska, Missouri and (likely) Alaska. Will be the three reddest states with such mandates.
