Throwback to the one-day special session last year, when Iowa Republican lawmakers passed the near-total abortion ban. @janice4iowa has a message for those politicians: "We are mad as hell and we definitely won't forget.”
If your candidate for governor didn’t win the GOP nomination tonight, you are welcome here. Iowans deserve a leader who lives in Iowa, who has worked for Iowans rather than for insiders, and someone that is committed to serving Iowa families. We already have more GOP donors than the GOP nominee. Join us. All Iowans - Democrats, Republicans and independents - are all welcome.
I encourage everyone to either vote early or vote on election day in the June 2nd Iowa Primary election. It is super easy and doesn’t take much time at all. Vote early through June 1 at your county auditor’s office.

Vote June 2 at your local precinct. You can also register to vote at these locations right before you vote. Visit https://t.co/v54HPoagxJ for polling locations and other important voting information.

Proud to earn the endorsement of AFSCME Council 61 — the union fighting for Iowa's public employees every single day. When we flip the Iowa Senate, we flip the balance of power for workers. 🔵💪

Yesterday the governor signed the law to ban Mifepristone access via telehealth. It goes into effect July 1st here in Iowa... This snaps us right back to how it was pre-Roe vs Wade. Women will be trapped. Women will die.

The price of diesel is also out of sight and we’re seeing that reflected on our grocery shelves. Please lend a helping hand where you can. Please help your neighbors. It’s tough out here, for sure, but we can persevere if we stick together.
I’m so angry. I’m angry for everyone who was already having a tough time. I don’t understand how any of my neighbors who are already having a tough time putting food on the table and paying the bills can afford these crazy gas prices — they’ve doubled!

Earlier this week, our Republican colleagues passed a massive charter school bill that further advances their focus on dismantling public schools which educate 90% of Iowa children. We can do better, we must do better, for Iowans.
Where is the leadership? Our Republican colleagues have been trying to pass property tax reform for two years.
Today, they are further apart than ever.
Real leadership would have brought them together with Governor Reynolds to hammer out a deal, stress test it, and bring it to the floor. Instead they brought three bills and are still trying to figure it out.
Today is Day 100 of this legislative session. It’s supposed to be the final day, but we’re nowhere close. Our majority colleagues are not united in terms of their budget targets and numbers. They’re focused on things that are not what Iowans want.
We should not be putting blinders on our students.
Iowa students deserve to see the whole world, not just a small portion of it. Iowa’s economy is now more global than ever and our students deserve to see the whole picture.
The attacks on Johnson County do nothing to help Iowans with the issues that really matter. Iowans want decency, good jobs and lower costs. We want to work together to deal with issues that matter to ALL Iowans.
Community ID programs in Johnson, Story, and Marshall counties have been working for over a decade — helping seniors, disaster survivors, people experiencing homelessness, immigrants, and those fleeing abuse access medical care, local services, and law enforcement.
These IDs don't replace a driver's license or unlock government benefits. HF2296 bans local governments from issuing these cards entirely. A non-operator's license isn't a real alternative for those without documentation or who can't reach a county DOT facility.
