🇨🇳 China on track to surpass the US as the world’s top Travel & Tourism economy 🚀

The latest WTTC report just dropped some impressive numbers on China’s tourism sector.

Last year China welcomed more than 68 million international visitors — that’s a solid 15.5% jump from the year before, way above the global average. International spending hit $135 billion, already past pre-pandemic levels, while the whole Travel & Tourism economy grew 9.9% to $1.8 trillion.

On the outbound side, Chinese travelers are expected to push spending up 22.5% to nearly $280 billion in 2026, taking back the number one spot globally. Looking further ahead, the sector could nearly double to $3.5 trillion by 2036 and support over 103 million jobs.

A few things are clearly helping drive this:
• Visa-free entry for people from more than 50 countries (arrivals from those places are up five times since 2020)
• The incredible high-speed rail network, airports, and easy digital payments
• All the historic areas and attractions being well looked after and easy to visit

The data shows steady, strong growth coming.

China is making itself more open and convenient for travelers, and the numbers are responding.

Definitely an exciting time for tourism here.
