Absolutely appreciate the NO vote in its current form. No doubt that reform and oversight needs to happen, and quickly, but removing the ability of family members to be caregivers is not the answer. The home health care, medical transport loopholes need closed, and those prosecuted that manipulated the system. The problem has never been parents of DD children or adults providing care and services to their children.

For the last 1.5 years, the Ohio House Medicaid Committee has been working to protect the taxpayer while serving our most vulnerable citizens. As a member of this committee, I can attest that especially over the past few weeks, both sides of the aisle have been working together to honestly find policies to eliminate fraud, waste, & abuse.

Last week, Speaker Huffman added three members of leadership to the Medicaid Committee. These three have taken over the process from the chair, and yesterday they presented a 177-page substitute bill that had been released just a few hours before committee began. This was an ambush! Turns out, the details of this sub bill has provisions in it that totally blow up Medicaid in Ohio and will have the exact opposite effect of what we have been working towards.

Last General Assembly we had a rule that required all amendments and sub bills to be available by midnight the day before adopted (The Cinderella Rule). This rule gave some time for amendments to be read; however, this rule was eliminated in this GA. The result has been that time and time again, members have been forced to take votes before seeing the bill, and then only later getting the details. Yesterday, leadership hid the ball again, and in doing so, left the original members of the committee who weren’t part of crafting the sub bill holding the bag.

This is the latest example of the style of leadership the Ohio House is under.—do what we say or else. Believe me, I know firsthand!

And most unfortunately, this trick yesterday probably wasted an opportunity to truly protect the taxpayer. We were on a path to make major and positive reforms to Medicaid in Ohio to weed out Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; however, now with this sub bill and the way it was handled, how can we trust what we are being told by leadership?

Simply put, we cannot.

Oh, and to be clear, I’m a “No” on this SubBill.

@lukerosiak I can only speak for the Ohio House Medicaid Committee, and yes, it is true that all of the members of the Medicaid Committee have been working to find solutions. Clearly, there is not agreement on all fronts, but there is and has been effort put forth.

When I was Soeaker The House led the way when We passed the largest Tax Cuts in Ohio History, made the largest investments in our Infrastructure in Ohio History, and we banned men from women’s sports. Plus a many other good things for regular Ohioans.

Ohio has a projected surplus at the end of FY26 of $1.2 Billion, and these funds should be used to LOWER PROPERTY TAXES to all of Ohio’s homeowners—especially our most economically struggling senior homeowners!

We have the funds to give real property tax relief for 2027, and we should do so before we adjourn for summer break!

These property tax relief bills, if passed, will not reduce revenue to our schools or local governments. The funds will go directly to the bottom line of taxpayers in 2027.

This afternoon, I sent the following memo to my Republican colleagues in the Ohio House detailing how we can get it done.

Also, included in my memo are several other bills that, if passed, would make Ohio more affordable, more healthy, more free, more safe, and more accountable to the taxpayers.

@Shaneo8906Shane The Owner Occupancy will increase from 12.5% over the next three years up to 15.38%. That was in HB 186 passed in 2025. I believe we should increase that credit, but do it on a flat dollar amount for homeowners…it is a more fair way do do additional credits.
