We’ve launched Pothole Patrol, announced new playgrounds and outdoor gyms, stepped up zero-tolerance enforcement and driven forward major regeneration.

Proud to raise the Emergency Services Day flag over Croydon Town Hall, joined by representatives from the Police, Fire Service, RNLI and NHS, and, for the first time, Croydon Crown Court Judge Edward Connell.

Three fire engines due to attend were called out, while Superintendent Luke Dillon explained his colleagues were fully deployed - a reminder of just how busy our emergency services are.

It was also great to welcome pupils from Winterbourne Junior Girls’ School in Thornton Heath - perhaps some of our 999 emergency service heroes of the future.

CALAT is not being cut. Funding stays in place, courses will continue and no jobs are at risk.

Classes are simply moving to an existing CALAT centre at Strand House. Labour and Inside Croydon’s claims otherwise are irresponsible scaremongering.

On Wednesday, I challenged Sadiq Khan’s proposal to impose 5,600 homes on Croydon’s Green Belt.

Croydon can meet its housing target without sacrificing green space. We should focus on brownfield land, stalled sites and regenerating our town and district centres first.

Once the Green Belt is gone, it is gone for good.

Yet his Government still reimburses councils at 2011 rates when we house homeless families.

That leaves Croydon taxpayers with a £45m annual bill.

That means new opportunities in hotels, conferences, retail, hospitality, engineering and aviation.

It also makes CARS essential. Rail capacity through Croydon must keep pace if Gatwick’s growth is to deliver for our regional and national economy.

.@Gatwick_Airport's expansion is an opportunity of genuine national economic significance, with Croydon central to making it work.

A very positive meeting with CEO Pierre-Hugues Schmit. Gatwick and Croydon are in lockstep on bringing jobs, investment and visitors to our region.

The Gatwick Region Airport Economic Zone is the UK’s first aviation-powered economic zone.

Croydon is its gateway to London: around 15 minutes from Gatwick and 15 minutes from central London, making us the natural staging post for tourism, business and investment.

Awful news from Nepal and Tibet, where members of the South London Sanatan Mandir community in Coulsdon are among those reported missing following the floods.

I want everyone at the Mandir, and the families and friends of those missing, to know that Croydon is with you.

It was a pleasure to visit Soul Purpose 360°, a Community Interest Company, on George Street led by Palma Black, alongside @MrOlaKolade

Palma has dedicated more than 30 years to community work in Croydon, and that experience and commitment really comes through in what she has created here.

Soul Purpose 360° brings people together, supports health and wellbeing and creates opportunities for residents, community organisations and local businesses to connect, develop and thrive.

It was great to hear more about the work taking place and the focus on bringing organisations and communities together, sharing skills and ideas and finding practical solutions for Croydon.

Really pleased to meet residents at my latest Meet the Mayor session at Costa Del Croydon.

For me, this is all about getting out into the community - away from the desk and in a more informal setting where people can simply drop in, have a conversation and talk about the issues that matter to them.

We talked housing, employment, community safety, fly-tipping and more. Every issue raised was noted and will be followed up with a written response.
