@sarobertsonca We knew this was coming since they have been pushing to privatize Canada Post. A move that will certainly increase prices and reduce availability of delivery for many rural Canadians. What keeps the already high costs down isn’t competition it’s the public service existing.
@sarobertsonca The people coming at the Liberals on this is rich. This is the small “c”, neoliberal conservative playbook. Sell off an asset once, to temporarily reduce the deficit and then lose the public asset value every year thereafter all then prices raise and profits get hoarded.
@nspowerinc Most of Bridgewater has been without power since 2AM. It’s been 16 hours folks. The estimates just keep getting pushed back when they pass. It’s super frustrating to not actually know if it’s even actively being worked on.
@s4rah_dev@StealthQE4 We have all been conditioned to think about pulling up our bootstraps but for most white folks proper to 1980 those bootstraps were floating on social supports, collectivism and fairer taxation for corporations and a sense that companies had a moral responsibility to society.
@s4rah_dev@StealthQE4 We now have lower wages, higher taxes, governments privatized our utilities and divested from social housing, weakened union legislation and championed the transition to nearly 35 years of wage shrinkage over the COL. I’m not sure that’s on individuals for not going hard enough.
@CTVCalgary Air Canada isn’t communicating at all with affected passengers. I’ve got booked flights for Friday but have not heard a peep other than the press releases. I have no idea if I have a flight. I do not disparage the workers. I’m angry and frustrated. I can’t imagine trying to call
@gchahal That’s not what it means. They are required to give a notice of 72 hours before going on strike as part of their contract. The strike could be indefinite.
@AirCanada I did find this rather important gem in the PR: “The first flights will be cancelled August 14, with more on August 15, with a complete cessation of flying by Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge on August 16.”
@AirCanada Are you beginning the wind down on the 16th or now? You haven’t updated the labour issue page yet on the website. https://t.co/cyOj9s0iBl im supposed to travel on Friday to LHR and now not sure if its going fly or not.
@HeatherHaughn@Bell_Aliant Yes. I don’t understand why a telcos don’t make it easier to submit reports in text or chat. I wasn’t about to get on a call from bed. I don’t live alone. Also, chat/text is accessible for people with hearing impairment. It’s downright stupid.
@Bell_Aliant Slow fibe speeds in Bridgewater (about 100m from the Bell CO). Router showing slow speeds for downloads. Normal uploads. Been like this all night. Restarted router. No change. Speed test was from the router itself. No WiFi/Cables. #NovaScotia
@Bell_Aliant Things are fine now. It is just frustrating that a) you don’t have a real status page, b) I can’t report issues via chat or text. I do not need to call. Your network was having issues last night. You always assume it’s my problem. There were dozens of reports.
@JaapTitulaer@ianbremmer Nope. The only restriction is that it must take place no later than Oct. 20. It’s not a scheduled date. It’s entirely up to the leader to ask for dissolution of parliament or after a vote of non-confidence of the house. Trudeau will not be PM to make the decision.
