Markets in Taiwan and South Korea are making history:

The total market cap of Taiwan's stock market is up to a record $4.5 trillion, surpassing Canada’s $4.4 trillion for the first time.

Taiwan’s stock market value has also exceeded that of the UK for the first time 2 weeks ago.

This comes as Taiwan’s market cap has surged by +$2.7 trillion or +150% over the last 12 months.

At this pace, Taiwan could overtake India and become the 5th largest world market as soon as next month.

Meanwhile, South Korea's stock market cap is up to a record $4.1 trillion, having overtaken the UK last week, and on track to surpass Canada this month.

Collectively, the two markets have added +$4.6 trillion in market value over the last 12 months, driven by AI-related stocks.

AI is transforming Taiwan and South Korea into a global economic power.

3/ Token sale twist: primary buyers receive a Perpetual PUT, an on-chain redemption right. You can keep it, redeem it back to what you put in, or unlock/sell and forgo the put. Secondary buyers don’t inherit it.

4/ Bull case - Architecture
One engine powering many markets = fewer silos, simpler risk, cleaner cross-margin. If the spot spine is deep and fast, the rest of the stack compounds.

5/ Bull case - Product fit
Perps that settle to the venue’s own spot + unified margin can feel CEX-like while staying on-chain. If traders believe the pricing, liquidity follows.

ftUSD as shared settlement glue lets a single deposit back spot, perps, and lending simultaneously. More utility per dollar is a strong pull for pros.

If protocol revenues loop into buybacks/deflation and LPs are paid per actual usage, value capture aligns with real activity (not promises).

8/ Bear case - Scope risk
Shipping spot, perps, lending, insurance, and a settlement unit are a big surface area. Orchestration, audits, and phasing have to be flawless.

9/ Bear case - Liquidity & stress tests
Depth-aware pricing, oracle-light settlement, and soft liquidations need to survive volatility. Until they do, it’s theory.

10/ Bear case - DeFi realities
Smart-contract bugs, MEV, ops, and regulatory overhang apply. No structure eliminates tail risk.

11/ Heads-up - PUT mechanics
Protection applies to primary allocations via the wrapper; once you unlock/trade, that protection is gone. Secondary buyers don’t inherit it. Good to understand, not a “bear,” just how it works.

12/ What I’m watching
Top-of-book depth, execution latency, funding/liquidation behavior in fast markets, settlement LP returns vs. risk, and how orderly redemption flows remain.

13/ My stance
I’ve known @AndreCronjeTech for 8 years. Whatever you think of past cycles, this feels like his grandbaby, the culmination of lessons. My bet: he’s hell-bent on making this one work.

14/ Bottom line
If liquidity + execution land, Flying Tulip can become the on-chain home for serious trading and credit. If not, it’s an elegant science project. I’m leaning bullish, eyes open. (Not investment advice.)
