Just my two cents: I grew up in Connecticut and what happened with the Sun really doesn't sit right with me. That state has supported women's basketball since way before it was cool. UConn-Tennessee basically inspired the WNBA to exist.
The New England Blizzard, in WNBA precursor ABL, drew fans. Fans still supported the Sun, who play in the middle of NOWHERE. It takes everyone 45 minutes each way to get there.
I get it, capitalism doesn't care. But getting moved to a sexier TV market with an NBA owner with no chance for regional buyers to save the team is gross.
@CoachMarcusHill Direct correlation between loser parents drinking at youth sporting events and the increase in this behavior. Someone was making margaritas at a damn town little game the other night. Absolute loser stuff.
@BiscuitsJesus@JesusHSchvice I second this. I had heard about how great they sound there. Having been at the last 2, I was blown away. I have only dreamed of Phish sounding like that. Amazing.
@BarstoolNate The PLD injury was a problem. I feel like the Trouba hit on Leno changed the whole course of the season. Kid should have had 40 goals and been the spark. He didn’t miss a ton of time but he wasn’t himself for a long time after that hit.
@Jared_Carrabis The only thing that will bring on real change is if fans stop showing up, cancel NESN subscriptions, stop buying merch, etc… it won’t happen but I’d love to see it.
@TheCupitals Bought tickets to the eventual record breaking game 2 months prior. Hoping it would work out. All time great moment to be there with my kids.
I cried when Laettner hit the buzzer beater in 1990. 9 year old me was crushed. Watching that game and going crazy with my kids last night was an incredible full circle moment. #Uconn#marchmadness
Before brackets came out Siena was going to be my Cinderella. Then I saw 1 vs 16 and Duke. So I bailed. If Siena wins this game I will never fill out brackets again #Marchmadness
Been at ESPN a long time - this one was an all timer. Before social media, it was as viral as a story can be. I watched it on a tape in the news room. I couldn’t stop watching his teammates.
@BadChoiceBurner I don’t watch as intently as you but to my eyes they have gotten by this year being more athletic than opponents and individual talented players but very rarely lock in as a cohesive team. But I’m a hockey guy so what do I know
@capstrav1s Agree on the emotional side. The Carlson move was ballsy and probably did more harm than good. Also, was hoping these moves would mean some fresh call ups but…
