It may amaze many people to know that the newly commissioned Balogun Ibikunle statue was achieved purely through the contributions and sacrifices of some members of the family, without government funding or support. Projects like this are not cheap, but the family believed that a hero who gave so much for Ibadan deserves to be remembered and honored properly.
Preserving the legacy of our past heroes should ordinarily be a collective responsibility, especially for the government, but when that support is missing, families sometimes choose to carry the burden themselves in the best way they can, so history will not be forgotten.
I canโt even ask someone who owes me money for my own money. Itโs ridiculous. I donโt understand how some people can live happily knowing they owe someone money.
