There are real risks associated with increasingly advanced AI systems, but we must mitigate those risks while still allowing the beneficial uses of AI to thrive. Californians are paying nearly 90 cents more per gallon for gas than drivers in neighboring Oregon, and almost $1.70 per gallon more than the national average. California’s burdensome fuel regulations continue to make an already high cost of living even more expensive. Too many families have experienced the devastating impact of illicit fentanyl, and our emergency rooms are often the front lines in responding to overdoses. For many seniors, especially those in rural areas like ours, their local pharmacist is one of the most accessible health care professionals in their community. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. economy added 162,000 jobs last month, while unemployment held steady at 4.1%.
