@A22306A@mf_blonde I know, I'm part of the consultation group for it. Do you have some insider knowledge that it will significantly increase dense development in the IW? Because the only thing that it's been touted as is an alternative to the TOD and LMRHR programs.
@mf_blonde People can make petitions, it won't do them much good.
The legal action you're referring to is almost always an applicant/ proponent taking Council to court for a deemed refusal. Again, a process that does not involve politicians in any way.
@mf_blonde I'm not aware of IW Labor pushing for planning reform, do you have any evidence?
They've been in power for 8 years, if they wanted to seriously reform the LEP, they've had plenty of time.
@mf_blonde Have they? The LMRHR and TOD program essentially do not allow for new dense housing in the IW, seemingly by design. Have you looked at any of the analysis of these reforms?
Labor's policy is more of the same, concentrate development out west, where it's politically convenient.
@mf_blonde Do you know how the planning system works? Cause it kind of seems like you just want to sling mud against the Greens without anything to back it up.
@mf_blonde I know the system inside out because I work for a Council.
Community submissions are essentially useless and can't stop otherwise compliant development. The "community processes" you are referencing do not exist, especially for SSD proposals.
@mf_blonde Yes, and you can change that.
I assure you Labor branches are not full of YIMBYs, both parties at the local level have people opposed to change.
Again, Labor have been in power since 2017, if they wanted planning reform, why haven't they done it?
@mf_blonde I'm going to need you to explain how.
The Greens are not in power at any level of government, councillors do not vote on DAs, and Kobi Shetty has power over development.
Why do you feel Labor, who is in government, is not responsible but the Greens are?
@mf_blonde If Labor wanted to abolish the Haberfield HCA, they could. If they wanted 8 storey apartments in Balmain, they could amend the LEP. If they wanted apartments permitted on every IW lot, they could.
But they haven't, so why are you blaming the Greens?
@mf_blonde And before you post a photo of Kobi talking about the Rozelle apartments, which she has no control over, maybe ask why the party governing the IW since 2017 (Labor) hasn't actually done anything to allow more density.
@redcountry99@mf_blonde What housing have the Greens "shot down". Labor state government and in IW Council, surely they would be the ones responsible for a lack of new housing?
@Urban_Immerser Okay, then why are we disarming Palestinians only, whilst allowing military gear produced in Australia to go to Israel?
Palestinians are not allowed a military, or a functioning government, or even the ability to live apparently. So who is actually being "crushed"?
@Urban_Immerser Not really, it's the only current conflict where western governments are firmly on the side of the government committing the genocide.
Labor is not serious about peace because they have done nothing to actually push Israel to act, in fact they've been giving them support.
