.@RepDonBacon says @SpeakerJohnson pressed Republicans to vote against aid to Ukraine.
"He lobbied pretty hard... The Speaker whipped against us, so that's why he drove that number down...He says he's pro-Ukraine, but the actions speak louder than words." https://t.co/Gkuulx5iUV
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has stalled so Putin bombs Ukrainian cities every night. The President’s negotiations have failed & we’ve done little to help Ukraine defend itself over the last year and a half. The time to act is now. Sending defensive weapons also tells Putin he cannot win. Weakness incites him to continue the war.

This vote was about standing up for freedom and a victim of an invading thug. I know how Ronald Reagan would have voted. He told Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. If alive today, he’d demand that Putin “get the hell out of Ukraine.”

On Thursday, I voted for the Ukraine Support Act, one of only 18 Republicans who sided with Democrats in the House to advance aid for Ukraine and strengthen sanctions on Russia. The bill passed the House by a vote of 226-195 and provides critical support for Ukraine's recovery and defense while increasing pressure on Russia's financial and energy sectors. Supporting our allies and standing up to authoritarian aggression remains an important American interest.
70% of America supports Ukraine. This Republican does too. It’s time the House do the People’s business and support freedom against an invading dictator.
Congress must get on the right side of history & support a democracy, free market nation who wants to ally w/ us, and to oppose a thug who is invading its neighbor. We’ve waited long enough to help Ukraine & put sanctions on Russia. This is our Churchill vs Chamberlain moment.
@Keir_Starmer I don’t think you get it - you have to DO SOMETHING REAL. You can just talk now. People expect actual leadership and change. Anyway I’m just American so it’s not up to me
Mr Witkoff has gone to Moscow eight times to negotiate peace… zero times to Ukraine. Most Americans know this is not right. Don’t pretend to be neutral when the facts are obvious. Can we get someone serious in the position to do this right?
@Keir_Starmer I’m an American so I have no inherent right to comment here, but this response seems like an absolute zero. Zero accountability, zero specific changes, zero ownership, zero leadership. What would Winston think?
Congress can no longer wait on the Administration to act. That’s why we will vote this week on military aid to Ukraine & tough sanctions on Russia. America must have moral clarity in regard to Putin’s invasion and murdering civilians. 70% of Americans want a stronger response.
@visegrad24 No urgency here to treat him, and he’s doing nothing to resist anything they are doing. Training needs to be updated immediately and charges should be brought up here.
