In 2021, the theme of Twilio's company kickoff was "Engage." So I had the opportunity to interview @SirPatStew as part of the kickoff. (COVID times, so it was virtual sadly.) But a few things about that interview I'll never forget:

1. He was just the kindest person. I've had the chance to meet and interview a variety of celebrities -- it's a weird aspect of being a CEO and hosting customer conferences -- and of all the people I had the chance to work with, SPS was just the nicest, most genuine, delightful person. Just exactly who I hoped he'd be.

2. I'll also never forget the exact time of this interview. The morning of January 6, 2021. I spent the morning doing the interview and when it was done, turned on the news and... holy crap WTF is going on in Washington DC?!?

3. So that year we were launching product called "Engage" for marketing automation. So I wanted him to say Captain Picard's tagline, naturally. But apparently, the Jean-Luc-isms are owned or trademarked by Paramount, so he said he couldn't say them. Whether that's true, or he was just sick of saying "Engage," I don't know. So I played a little game with him... I'd ask him questions like... "So Sir Patrick, tell me about the day you got ... um... decided to marry your wife, ya know, what do you call it?..." and he'd say "No no no Jeff, I'm not going to say it."

4. I couldn't resist asking him is favorite TNG episode. It was "The Inner Light." It's also my favorite episode -- it's a masterpiece. I pulled the clip of him talking about The Inner Light below, I hope you enjoy!

5. Yes, this video is incredibly cheesy. 2021 was weird times man.
