Last night, I was honored to be home to attend the dedication ceremony for the renaming of the St. Martinville High Football Field in honor of Coach Carroll Delahoussaye.

Coach was of course a winner on the field, but he is also a winner in the game of life.

I am grateful for the impact he had on me as well as countless other players who had the honor of having him as their coach!

This summer we celebrated Daniel Cressy as he became the first patient in Louisiana to be cured of Sickle Cell Disease, @manfamchildrens.

Today, we celebrate another huge milestone. The FAA has medically cleared Daniel to fly, getting him one step closer to fulfilling his dream of becoming a commercial pilot.

Congratulations Daniel! Clear skies await!

Last night we hosted our annual Law Enforcement Night at the Gator Hunt. We have seen historic drops in crime across our State and it is a direct result of the men and women who stand on the Thin Blue Line. Today and every day we are grateful for them!

The media has manufactured outrage about NDAs, but assume none of you have access to historical data. Elected officials, both Democrat and Republican, have been using NDAs as a successful negotiation tool for years. Louisiana was just never a contender.

(2021-2022): Republican Gov. Brian Kemp used NDAs while negotiating Rivian's electric-vehicle plant and $1.5 billion incentive package.

(2021-2022): Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and legislators from both parties signed NDAs during negotiations that produced a $666 million incentive package for GM.

(2022): Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and Republican legislators protected Panasonic's identity while Kansas competed for its $4 billion battery plant.

(2018): Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam's agreed to protect confidential information connected to Amazon's second headquarters and $550 million in direct state incentives.

(2017-2018): Cities led by both Republicans and Democrats used confidentiality agreements while competing for the Amazon HQ2 nationwide project.

One of the greatest industries in Louisiana is horse racing.

The First Lady and I enjoyed being in St. Landry Parish at Copper Crowne where we discussed marrying the veterinarian program at LSU with this great facility— giving students an opportunity to work with large animals.

It was great to be back in time—standing in Teche News’ old printing room. It brought me back to fond memories of watching my grandfather work a teletype and running around with my cousins while my uncle Henri tried to make us behave.
