Sanjay Hegde’s column suggests the Bombay High Court judgement did not address the lift door issue. He calls it a “demolished central claim”. But if you read the judgement it goes deeply into the issue and concludes that the lift door could have been kept closed by Tejpal by continually pressing the close button.

Here’s what the High Court judgement suggests:

* The doors automatically open when the lift reaches a floor.
* They normally remain open for 4 seconds.
* There is a close button inside.
* Pressing the close button makes them close faster than the normal time.
* The Court says it was therefore possible for Tejpal to keep his finger on the close button, so that the doors would remain open for only those four seconds.
* On that basis, the Court concluded that he could have “maneuvered the lift to ensure the doors were shut.”

The issues of lift mechanics and interpreting the cctv footage are neither “central” nor “demolished”. An SMS from Tejpal saying “the fingertips” and two apology letters should have been enough to convict him.

The Tejpal defence has been going on and on about lift and cctv as if the SMS and apology letters don’t exist.

It’s also a bit much to suggest Tarun agreed to press send on two apology emails just because he was ‘coerced’ to do so by Shoma. Can anyone ‘coerce’ you to send two apology emails to your entire staff if you did nothing wrong whatsoever?

A heated argument inside a Mumbai local train’s first-class compartment has gone viral after office-goers allegedly threatened college students despite them holding valid first-class tickets. The dispute reportedly began when the students were told certain seats were “reserved” for a regular group of commuters.

When the students questioned the claim, the confrontation escalated, with one commuter allegedly saying, “Come tomorrow, I'll show you what I can do.”

In the absense of these, what they issue regarding use of pellets is a denial or a clarification, even if they call it a fact check. You should atleast know the difference.
