Especially when they used to be the go-to for me for online work. @Upwork needs to calibrate, seriously. If you’re new and considering going there don’t, unless you have money to burn. Network in person at events, hire rate is better.

They don’t close jobs where the client didn’t hire anyone and have no activity past them browsing a few proposals so the connects can be returned to the freelancers. Something to consider of you’re thinking of going there.

I see freelancers throwing around “you have to spend money to make money” There’s a difference between an investment and a site just TAKING your money and not giving you what they promised.

About ready to give up on using @Upwork anymore. I’ve made decent money on the platform over the years, but their system feels predatory now. I have to spend money on connects just to apply to jobs and like 95% of those jobs never hire anyone.
