@MadMikeIsenberg You are perfectly within your rights to determine whether someone is a Christian or not whether or not you count yourself among their number. It depends on one's definition, of course. But my definition of a Christian is one who follows (more or less) the teachings of Christ.
@bluewmist It's almost never as bad as it seems. And it can always get worse. Don't sweat it. You can survive it. And anything you can survive, you can rebuild from.
@BenjaminPDixon You could say "I apologize for pontificating on something I'm wholly ignorant of." Humans definitely do not compose sentences like that. They first create a concept that they want to say, then they filter both for truth and implication before it's finally encoded in text.
@AIandDesign Corruption, no matter what name you call it, will always exist as long as there is incentive for it. The solution to corruption is small government. Not less government, just smaller, at the town level. Let the people enforcing the laws be people you see in the grocery store.
@oohglobbits5 This is the type of fallacy we hear the most from atheists. You're not debunking God. You're debunking one particular thing somebody said about God. If I said "Bryan is tall and works at Walmart" and you proved that he didn't work at Walmart, would that prove Brian doesn't exist?
@bbishdotdev@RedWavePress The problem is this only works if literally everyone has a 9-5 job. What if you buy a car for 11k and sell it for 12k? Do you get taxed on the 12k? No you get taxed on the profit. That's what most of the deductions are. Subtracting business expenses. You can't get away from that
@antitheistdad No, the burden of proof is on both. The only position without a burden of proof is agnosticism. If you claim you can know for certain that God does not exist, then the burden of proof is on you. If you claim to know for sure he does exist, the burden is also on you.
@SpeedWatkins@java_warrior@z8000783 Supposition or assumption is a given in a logical argument. You're not supporting them, you're just assuming they are true. And you are doing so because "everyone" knows they are true. But "everyone" in this case are primarily theists. You're using your opponent's conclusions.
@ChrisGloninger We were told in no uncertain terms that we were nearing or past the point where we could ever recover, even if we cut carbon emissions by 100%. Don't try telling me that a few wind farms fixed that problem. You're just rewriting your own history so as not to admit you were wrong.
@FLCons Nothing particularly wrong with it. It doesn't need to pass code because code only deals with buildings. The only difference between this and your house is some more plastic wrapping and some staples. It's just hidden behind the wall so you can't see it.
@xanas3712@BobMurphyEcon You only have to prove intent if you're going to choose option B - that they are liars. It's trivial to get them to say one thing with full confidence, and then get them to admit that the very opposite is actually true. You can get them to do this - switch sides - several times.
@TheRockDK@alphafox Doesn't have anything to do with feelings. If you tell the world "Only boys like sports" how are you surprised when a girl who likes sports starts telling people she's a boy? I'm not saying the trans movement was a rational response. But telling kids hobbies are gendered is dumb
@heartland_grump@WallStreetApes For what it's worth, ownership is always an illusion. There is only possession. If someone bigger and stronger than you comes and takes the thing you own away from you, you don't own it anymore, unless you have someone bigger and stronger to take it back for you.
@Her_Nonymous_D This is why we need assholes. The people that don't give a fuck what others think of them. We need people who are nice and polite and give in to the needs of others. But we also need the hard edge person to stand up to someone like this and say "Hey fuck face. Get outta her seat!
@fawkingsickcunt@Rainmaker1973 I can't tell if you're being sardonic or genuinely dubious, but either way, I guess the answer is the same. 4 stairs is not that difficult. That's my point.
