I have arrived in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania, at the invitation of H.E. Dr. @SuluhuSamia Hassan for a two-day working visit.
Uganda and Tanzania have enjoyed excellent relations over the years, founded on our common history, Pan-African ideals, and commitment to regional integration. I look forward to productive engagements that will further strengthen our cooperation for the prosperity of our two countries and the East African region.

Today, I presided over the passout of 2,254 patriots from education institutions across Katakwi District. I urged them to remain disciplined and uphold the NRM's four principles, namely: Patriotism (Nationalism), Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation, and Democracy.

Earlier today, I met a coffee researcher from the Republic of Korea. We discussed opportunities to strengthen Uganda's coffee sector through research and collaboration. Coffee remains one of Uganda's leading foreign exchange earners, supporting millions of livelihoods.

Today, I represented H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at the consecration and enthronement of the Rt Rev. Dr Vitolis Ekuru as the 4th Bishop of Katakwa Diocese, Teso–Kenya. I congratulate Bishop Ekuru and wish him God's guidance and blessings in his ministry.

It is with deep sorrow that I announce the death of our brother Gen. Moses Ali. He died today at Nakasero Hospital, at 1600 hours. Gen Moses Ali has provided service to his country for a long time, as a soldier and a political leader.

In the West Nile region, he provided the good example of being a big modern farmer. We shall miss greatly his contribution. May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace.

H.E Major (Rtd) @jessica_alupo, today paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, at State House in Harare.

The meeting, comes as the VP Alupo arrives in Zimbabwe to represent H.E @KagutaMuseveni at tomorrow’s launch of Zimbabwe’s Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Programme of Action Report.

Accompanied by Amb. @AmoruPaul and senior government officials, the VP used the occasion to strengthen bilateral ties and reaffirm Uganda’s solidarity with Zimbabwe.

President Mnangagwa welcomed the visit and underscored the strong and cordial relations between the two countries. He pointed to recent high-level exchanges, including his own trip to Uganda in January 2025 for the NAM and G77+China Summits, and the attendance of Zimbabwe’s VP, Constantino Chiwenga, at President Museveni’s inauguration on 12 May 2026.

The President called for accelerated preparations for the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC), describing it as the key platform for expanding trade, technical collaboration, and political engagement between Zimbabwe and Uganda.

He also expressed Zimbabwe’s gratitude to Uganda for supporting its successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term.

Congratulations on the series of elections that we have been having ever since the
15th of January, 2026. These were: the Presidential, the Parliamentary, District Chairpersons, District Councillors, Sub-County Chairpersons and Sub-County Councillors. I, especially, congratulate our
party, the NRM, for winning all those elections with big majorities.

I also congratulate the other parties such as the DP, UPC, etc., that participated
in the elections without using violence unlike the Party of NUP and some few elements of FDC, that were using violence. The parties under IPOD should clearly lay out agreed guidelines on the dos and don’ts of election management, according to the laws and the constitution of Uganda.

I thank Their Excellencies, the Heads of State of the East African Community, for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as Chairperson of the EAC Summit for the next year.

Africa must avoid what I call “Okukonesa” , the mis-cooking of the African Revolution. Historically, our weaknesses of disunity, poor leadership and failure to adopt science allowed the continent to be colonised.
We achieved Uhuru (freedom). The next mission must be Umoja (unity).

Prosperity comes from production and markets. Fragmented markets keep Africa poor.

In Luganda we say: “Omuggo oguli ku mulirano tegugoba ngo.” The stick in the neighbour’s house cannot chase away the leopard.
Africa must build its own internal market through integration. The East African Community and continental integration are therefore not optional.
The mission remains: Uhuru na Umoja, Freedom and Unity.

Countrymen, Countrywomen and, especially the Bazzukulu, on Sunday 18th January, I formally received the declaration of my re-election as President of Uganda. I thank God, Maama Janet, the NRM members, our leaders, institutions, and all Ugandans who stood for peace and stability.

In this new Kisanja, our priorities are clear: safeguard peace and security, eradicate household poverty, strengthen unity, enforce discipline in governance, and support wealth creators to grow our economy. Uganda will remain peaceful, stable and focused on progress.

I thank you all and wish you a happy Liberation Day.
