Finally, this interview of Granbury ISD trustee Courtney Gore by @jessica_goudeau & @FrokieCo is fantastic and gives you a great understanding of the district’s dynamics. https://t.co/u6Zvl1wife
This morning autism advocates will deliver 100k+ signatures to Gov. Abbott seeking clemency for Robert Roberson, who faces execution tomorrow night.
Here’s some backstory on how being autistic paved his path to death row:

It's hard to overstate how strong the evidence of innocence is in Roberson's case. Yet every institution that should stop his execution from moving forward--from the courts to the parole board--has failed. This is a sickening moment and makes a mockery of the idea of due process.
Thank you @FrokieCo and @jessica_goudeau for the opportunity to be on your show. Thoroughly enjoyed the conversation!

It's Monday. I'm still sick but do have a show! I'll update you on my health, & share an interview recorded last week w/ @jessica_goudeau for her book WE WERE ILLEGAL. Plus the #DNC begins! 5ET/2PT https://t.co/liqCBk9Ls6, https://t.co/2EuuFp3GrD
Q: You have pushed false claims about people like President Barack Obama, saying he was not born in the United States, which is not true. You have told four congresswomen, women of color who were American citizens, to go back to where they came from. You have used words like ‘animal’ to describe Black district attorneys. You've attacked Black journalists, calling them a loser, saying the questions that they ask are quote, ‘stupid and racist.’ You've had dinner with a white supremacist at Mar-a-Lago. So my question, sir, now that you are asking Black supporters to vote for you, why should Black voters trust you after you have used language like that?
Trump: Well, first of all, I don't think I've ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner
My latest for @TheAtlantic after the tragic killing of children in MajdelShams. Lebanon is bracing for impact. Diplomacy in overdrive. How many times can we choreograph an escalation?
At some point, stepping back from this brink will become impossible. https://t.co/sKduoOqRbh
Ted Cruz might have a spot on stage at the RNC, but his extremist views and hateful rhetoric don’t represent Texas.
If you are ready to elect the leadership Texans deserve, please chip in to my grassroots campaign now.

WE WERE ILLEGAL by @jessica_goudeau is a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice! https://t.co/v57gWMdXFz
I want to tell you a story about what happened when an assistant DA, Sunny Eaton, tried to undo a decades-old conviction—one that her own office had prosecuted.
The conviction rested on a diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome.
An appeals court recently called SBS “junk science.”🧵
Absolutely thrilled to have an excerpt of WE WERE ILLEGAL out today in @TIME! https://t.co/qfIlRBvjbt
Thanks so much to Bridget Gilleran at PRH for her work on subsidiary rights, and @racheljsonis at Time and Emily Wunderlich at Viking for excellent edits!
I cannot WAIT to chat with @yaffanyc tomorrow @BrazosBookstore: it has never felt more important to support fabulous indie bookstores in Texas. Hope to see you there, Houston!

Following the upset in the UK this week, there seems to be a massive political shift happening in some Western countries that many commentators did not see coming. As I see it, it ain't over till it's over, and the world is still full of reasonable voters.
Every week on "The Beautiful and Banned" podcast, Christine (@FrokieCo) and I say what is giving us hope this week. It's become a good habit I miss while we're on break, so here's one to start us off right on a Monday:
What's giving me hope this week is the surprise political upset in France, where leftist and centrist voters banded together to prevent the far right from its projected political victory. They crossed political divisions to work together, and defied the pundits and pollsters.
