What would you consider the age cut off for a main character being a book being consider YA versus Upper Middle Grades? (Assume setting is in a world where the actual “grade” of the main character isn’t something that exists)

I’m a little out on the “lingo” but I saw a lot of people talking about (specifically on Do Not Want lists) Portal Fantasy & Time Travel being two different things and I’m a little confused what the differences is? Because some DNW one but not the other? #AskMentor #PitchWars

the fact that teens today can just pull up fan fiction on their phones?? when sometimes i'd PRINT fan fictions from the FAMILY DESKTOP before we'd go on vacation????? i was born in the wrong time

Being a writer is strange and difficult sometimes but you should finish that book you’re writing because one day you’ll be on a panel with an author who changed your life and you’ll get to tell them you’re only here because their books made you feel seen when nothing else did
